Seems my Choate construction cams are down are any one else's
Yup. Mine too.
Noticed that with the Choate dorm cams yesterday as well...seems like they are back up and running now. On a sidenote: I have no idea why we don't have another live webcam showing the field replacement and Miller Hill regrade. I realize the project is a bit of a slow-slog but how hard is it to pop up another $25 webcam beside the one showing the NEZ construction and add it to the placeholder on the website? Frankly, I'm not sure why we don't have 3/4 camera angles/views on each of these projects to choose from, as cheap and easy as quality webcams and live streams are these days. Heck, I can have a view of my bedroom closet streaming (if I wanted to) with about 10 minutes of work. It seems we always trail other schools in this regard...
I hope this doesn't come off as a snarky reply, but if it does so be it.
My guess is that it comes down to a matter of priorities for our AD who has already had to trim $1.50+ mil from an already austere athletic budget while dropping three men's varsity sports--two of which (MSOC and MTEN) combined for at least 135+ years of App State sports history and tradition. Along the way he also had to furlough
every employee of the athletic department on some sort of recurring rotation. As of yesterday's Big 10 conference decision, our AD just lost another $1.25 mil of anticipated revenue from Wisconsin. So the budget is down $2.75+ mil and it's not mid-July yet. We may lose another sport before it's over.
I think this is sufficient justification, but I know enuff about the critical situation to pile more on if necessary.
Yes, the extra cams would be a nice touch; but if a couple of us chipped in a couple of C-notes for them, the $$$ would be better spent elsewhere in the budget. And likely would be!
