That may open a door or two for App in ACC, hopefully.

That's assuming the ACC doesn't back track now. Moreover, I'd be willing to bet the SBC follows suit.

From what I could tell, the rationale behind the plus one was for many ACC/SEC in state rival games to be allowed (i.e. UGA/GT, Florida/Florida State, etc.).

The SEC kicked mud on the face of the ACC. Nearly 24 hours after the ACC announces the one OOC game to save the in-state rivalry games, the SEC says nope, those don’t mean “more enough.” I have to figure the ACC will go conference only, and go back to their P5 corner until basketball season.

ULM had two pay games with the SEC. 20 percent of their budget in the blink of an eye.

I cannot imagine that these contracts are not solid and must be paid if ULM makes themselves available. What are people hearing about our Wisconsin contract? I doubt it has a pandemic loop hole. I would think we would receive our money.
Someone set me straight. Thanks.

My understanding is not sure. You can bet that both sides’ lawyers will have a different understanding of force majeure when it comes time to find out.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:29 pmI cannot imagine that these contracts are not solid and must be paid if ULM makes themselves available. First, I doubt any games are played this fall. With that said, none of these P5's will pay a dime. They'll likely just move the game to another year and say they are staying in the terms of the contract (this would probably be covered in the contract as a 'natural disaster'). Maybe, just maybe, they will say they can't get it on the books soon enough so they will just buy it out for a lesser fee. However, I think most schools are holding tight to that money right now. So I see that as a lesser possibility.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:29 pmI cannot imagine that these contracts are not solid and must be paid if ULM makes themselves available. Saw a Tweet: if South Carolina and Clemson show up at Greenwood HS on Thanksgiving Day, who will stop them.

Re: SEC to play 10 game conf schedule - No OOC
I have no idea what discussions are going on between all the G5 and P5 ADs regarding the cancelled games. It is my understanding that, since additional conference games are being added in place of these G5 games, their ability to refuse payment under force majeure is weakened, but they still hold a dominant bargaining position overall. The G5 conferences aren't going to announce conference only schedules unless there is some confirmation that the P5s won't have to pay because doing so would make it a mutual decision and end all hopes of collecting.
I'm guessing that there will be individual deals struck and most will involve rescheduling wherever possible. We will see.
