Yes running into the kicker is still around. Although the hit against the UNCC punter on Saturday wasn't that vicious, I believe it was called roughing since the punter had not landed and re-established position (kicking leg was still off the ground during contact) leaving him defenseless.

Watching some of the MU v EKU highlights, some of the Herd OL have a tendency to get downfield, past the 3 yard buffer, on passing plays, specifically the RPO's. Something to watch for this Saturday and hopefully something Clark asks the officials to keep an eye on prior to kickoff.

I wish I could disagree but I have to agree that this was a valid roughly the kicker call.

Yea at game speed, my initial reaction was running into the kicker because the contact was ticky-tack but when they showed the replay, the punter's leg was still not down leaving him vulnerable.

Isn’t it a judgment call on the official running into vs personal foul? If so I believe this could have been called as running into the kicker .

I would agree if the punter had landed and both feet were back on the ground as there was not a lot of contact but the D/receiving team has to allow the punter room to land and re-establish to no longer be considered defenseless. .

The one in the end zone was mind blowing that they didn't call it. Such a cheap shot, but what do you expect from them? Remember we are the classless ones and they are the noble victims....

It’s a judgement call but this one wasn’t hard.

Hadn’t landed, defender was in the area where he was supposed to land. Sure the hit wasn’t massive, but that’s a textbook 15 yarder.

I know offensive players are allowed to "push the pile". Is it legal for an OL player to "pull the pile" from behind or is that considered holding?

Start around the 2:50 mark, #79 pulls on #53 from behind resulting in a TD.

Appreciate the response but the example you provided has to do with pushing/pulling the ball carrier and not the defensive player. It seems to me that "pulling" on a defensive player, especially from behind, would be considered holding in this instance.

I agree it would be holding or something. A few years ago I saw a clip of an NFL referee and his comment on the flag was that the player getting the penalty "was giving the business" to the other player. I took it to mean there was a fist flying in the pile of the tackle or an extra kick. Maybe pulling on a defensive player was the referee's view of "given the business."

Ha - actually that was an ACC game and the penalty was on a DL who was "given the business" to a QB he had roughed -
As for pushing and pulling - I believe it is now legal to push your RB from behind but a penalty for pulling your RB forward -

To your knowledge, is it a penalty if the offensive player is pulling on a defender making the tackle, per the example above?
