Calling out Evans isn’t necessary, did you see the mans face?

It’s the background for GaSouthern’s Barstool account right now.

No I do disagree - since we don't know why, there is no reason to speculate what he said or didn't say - especially after - to Coach - a heartbreaking loss --- the man has been around football for decades, he knows what he is doing -
What's a better lie?

Ok here’s the problem. If he’s that kind of coach that runs interference for his players then why did he slam Virgil by name? You can’t have it both ways. Either never mention a player and you are aloof across the board or you call out all players. If he was hobbled so be it. If he violated a team rule so be it. But acting like you don’t know what’s going on to protect him as you are personally attacking another player on your team who actually did play and scored our only touchdown with an amazing catch is a bad look.

I didn't hear the interview and I am sorry he felt the need to call out individuals - that never ends well

Kind of wonder if Shawn is too much of a players coach. I thought Satt was a nice blend. this team just seems super undisciplined
Great point to ponder right here.

These guys have a lot of figuring out to do. We got beat by a team that matched up right with us on talent. We didn't make the plays and they did. The unfortunate thing is from my view we will face this same type talent a lot more this year than years past.
Better be stepping up or it could be a season like no other...not in the good direction like no other
I can't take anything away from Marshall. They were clearly the better team on the field. But I'm having a problem buying, for a second, that they have as much talent as we do.

This almost worries me more than the play calling. If he pisses off our second best receiver, we’re in trouble.

I have to agree. And it’s not like Virgil was why we lost. If you want to be pissed say the offense overall underperformed. The line underperformed and our senior quarterback didn’t exactly light it up either. I don’t like calling out players.

I thought the team was undisciplined going back to the NOLA Bowl.

I concur with the points made about Clark maybe being too much of a player's coach.

I don’t, either. However, I don’t mind it as much if a coach takes blame as well.

Yeah. I agree. I don’t want to be chicken little. it’s important Clark keeps his locker room.

The last time that App players had a large influence in hiring a coach, we ended up with Capel....just sayin. Although, it was a different sport with a much different culture and trajectory, so not apples to apples I know.

I might look back at this and laugh about how wrong I was, but so far, I haven’t been terribly impressed with Clark in his first three games. Then again, Satterfield had a pretty disastrous first 8-ish games. It’s still too early to tell, but calling out players instead of taking the blame yourself is never, ever a good look.

Capel is the exact reason you don't let players pick their coach. Players are not the ones paying them and expecting results. I don't think we need to pile on Clark yet because there are issues here that any new coach would have had.

I don't think our game-plan was very good but we were missing some key players and Virgil just disappeared on us yesterday after the INT play. I am thinking there are things going on with him in the head that have him playing up and down. Another is that we had Evans out there on passing downs when you know he just won't get the ball and then we throw him a pass that should turn the game around and he fumbles. If Pearson was out there then that does not happen for sure. He would not have been caught.

I want to see how we look when we get Pearson and Williams back healthy. I also think not having Anderson and Sutton is hurting us.

People are going to overreact for sure but I want to see how it plays out. Just hurts to lose such a huge game like this but people probably need to cool off before posting instead of rushing on here before the game is over to vent frustration. Marshall is a good team but we can definitely play better.

Here's hoping Clark will turn this ship around. However, if his job performance continues on the current path I don't see him being around for to long. With that said, we're only two games into the season and now is not the time to throw the baby out with the bath water. I'd say we'll know more after the Louisiana and The Stink games. Fingers crossed.

Half this board wanted to fire Satterfield after Liberty. Fans overreact. Water is wet. Death and taxes. Yadda yadda haha.

I am all for giving Clark time. Years. When he was announced, I did not have a problem with the hire, I had a problem with the process. The whole thing felt like he was just given the job. I never felt like there was a search. But again, I can give him time to grow into the job. I just hope our players are as patient as I am.
