Oh, this is really a tough one. Although CCU has played really well thus far this season, they haven't really been hit in the mouth hard. ULL was a close game but it was close most the game. Sometimes teams that are used to great success have a really tough time dealing with adversity when it strikes in a big way. I think App strikes in a big way and FINALLY gets off to a really fast start. After that our Defense plays the way we play and the Chickens are shell shocked as App State controls and wins the game. This my fandom talking and I hope I am right.

What we haven't had yet this year is an opponent who was SUPPOSED to really push us. Even Marshall, whom we should have known would be good, wasn't favored. That makes the "ramp up" week more of a BAU attitude. That's just human nature. Combine that with the lack of fans in the stands (which has always been part of Game Day excitement, and we wind up with a team that just hasn't looked pumped up for games. That changes this week. We are now hitting the game (and upcoming games) against opponents that will get our guys worked up. That, combined with the "home stretch" mentality will drive a shift into a new (previously only glimpsed) gear for the App.

CCU has had the advantage of a Cinderella season in which they are experiencing unprecedented success. That has fueled their team so far.

I think the combination results in a major clash this Saturday, but Experience and athletic ability will lift the Apps. I don't predict scores (because I suck at it) but I give the Apps the edge on Saturday.

The offense is the story here. Our O line can’t continue to get dominated. Our Rbs have to start hitting holes and making cuts. We have to try to throw the ball down field to open up the box...
If we own the O line we win....
