I believe the best way to describe his running style is a wanton disregard for his own personal well being! If he believed there was a play that could be made he was going to do everything in his powers to make it happen.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 3:12 pmI’ll never forget the hit he laid on a defensive lineman at the citadel in 07. Armanti had pitched it and was leading the charge, lowered his head, and put that lineman flat on his ass. Armanti may had been 180 soaking wet, but that man played with so much passion and heart, it added 30 or more pounds to him.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 2:51 pmSo what. He was tough as nails while a qb here. Delivering as good as he got. Breese weighs 205 now.

When I said AE wasn't a strong enough passer, I wasn't specifically referring to arm strength. I meant overall passing ability.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 6:34 pmI disagree. Taylor Lamb had zero arm strength and was in there

Re: Zac Gone
Having watched Edwards lamb and now Thomas, I’d trust Edwards to make the clutch throw over the others. And I’m not talking about the one beautiful wide open pass Thomas would make once a game. I’m talking about the gritty has to make the perfect throw. To which I say Edwards had that clutch gene the other two lackedappvette wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 12:22 amWhen I said AE wasn't a strong enough passer, I wasn't specifically referring to arm strength. Re: Zac Gone
Hard to believe we have folks who will put down players like Taylor and Zac. Some folks just can’t be satisfied.

Re: Zac Gone
I am sure he could not have possibly made more than one beautiful wide open pass per game with these stats. 11-2, 13-1 and 9-3..no, he probably did not make more than one beautiful pass per game.

I wonder how many crappy App fans on this board would crawl out from behind their keyboards and say some of the over-the-top BS to Zac’s face that they type on these threads. Am I happy with some of his and other players bad decisions in games (like the PIC against CCU)? No. Did it alter my world at all? No. Am I proud of Zac for what he did in an App State uniform? Hell yes. If you told me that in return for us beating both Carolinas in the same season we would “only” go 9-3 the following year would I take it? God yes! I wish him the best in all that he wants to do in life.

Re: Zac Gone
I'm not sure why a thread about Zac announcing his intent to leave has to become a negative assessment of his abilities by some. I really don't think that was anyone's intent, but just doesn't seem to fit the occasion. We've had discussions about these comparisons on an ongoing basis. For me, this is our opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of a great App QB.
Thanks for everyone you've done for App State, Zac! I will always be cheering for your success in all endeavors!
Personally, I am grateful that we have had all three of these young men wearing black & gold! IT'S GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!!!!

John Fox personally torpedoed Armanti's NFL career. I hate him for it.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 12:26 pmI still hate Fox never gave him a shot just to see what he could do. Hell, I could have done better than Clausen. That season was already down the drain, AE should have been given a quarter or 2 to give it a go.
Armanti Edwards is the greatest football player I have ever seen play the game.

Re: Zac Gone
AE was the best QB ever at App, really no debate there.
Zac may be the second most talented to wear the B&G. An arm like Burchette and legs like Jeremiah. I would never question his fire as he repeatedly runs over LB and CBs.
Lamb may have been the most cerebral, more of the mold of Satt, got every ounce of athletic ability given to him. Would welcome him with open arms as a coach, could be a great play caller in 4-5 years.

Re: Zac Gone
Greatest in App history, I could get on board with that. Greatest ever? Either you haven't seen many games or those are some big App goggles you have on. It is your opinion though so I respect that. Just don't agree. Guessing those in the hall of fame were just lucky, not better than AE.fjblair wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 11:04 amYes, the greatest football player I have ever seen play.AppDub wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 11:59 amHe was great, but greatest ever you have seen?fjblair wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 11:07 amJohn Fox personally torpedoed Armanti's NFL career.
