Re: Cortney Braswell Out?
I can't say this news surprises me at all. One look at Coach Braswell's body of work shows that whether by his choice or by pink slip, he hasn't stayed anywhere for longer than about three years. He has quite a few one-year stops under his belt. I suspect he continues to look for his dream job--but hasn't nailed it down yet. Maybe life on the banks of the Hudson River will be just "the thing" for him. It's another beautiful area!
College football coaching is a profession in which assistant coaches have to be both outstanding at their specialty and mobile in order to make mid six-figure money.

Welcome to the life of a lower (resource wise) tier G5 program. We are good enough to get lots of recognition, but can’t compete with other peer G5 teams let alone P5. Braswell is an energetic and young guy looking for a solid career. Army will probably double his salary and exposure. He had worked with woody as a HS coach at camps at App. I expect woody to continue to poach our staff as he knows their character and skill and knows he can easily increase the salary. Unhappy about it? Give to Yosef club and encourage everyone who is also tired of the attrition to do the same. It’s not going to stop until we can be competitive with salaries like other G5 schools

How many times have you reminded us of that? The point is fully funding scholarships frees up money to go to things like salary.NewApp wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:55 amYosef money not supposed to go for salaries. The Rock wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:32 amWelcome to the life of a lower (resource wise) tier G5 program. When I hit the BIG lottery this week I'm going to allot money to retain staff and make upgrades to the university when need be.

And it doesn't! But underfunded scholarships have to be fulfilled through expenditure of athletic operations funds--thus depleting funds that under better circumstances could have gone to coaching salaries. Soooooo, the fix is to increase Yosef giving to take the scholarship pressure off of athletic operations! Get it now? Yosef! Yosef! Yosef! Yosef! Yosef! I’ll remind every time somebody intimates that Yosef money can be used for salaries. The poster said nothing about freeing up money.goapps93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:07 amHow many times have you reminded us of that? Address your response to the Rock. That’s the poster who confused salaries with scholarships. Words have meanings.asu66 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 12:13 pmAnd it doesn't! So you think we could increase our giving 10x and we wouldn’t give a raise to any coaches? That no amount of giving can increase salaries or have any sort of trickle down effect?

From here on out, whenever a coach takes another job for more pay, and the corresponding answer is "we need more money for coaching staff," we must always say "donate to Yosef Club, so we can fully fund scholarships with that money instead of using athletic budget money for it and thus, be able to provide higher salaries for coaches."NewApp wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 2:15 pmAddress your response to the Rock. You know, instead of just having common sense and knowing it's all tied together even though Yosef Club money does not go directly to salaries.

Re: Cortney Braswell Out?
To go along with this game, if hypothetically the Yosef Club covers all scholarship funding, then where can any excess Yosef funds be spent after scholarships?

Re: Cortney Braswell Out?
It's beyond amazing the level of coaching talent App continues to field, given our relatively tight purse strings.
I know it's a broken record, but you have to see the program culture as a primary reason we continue to attract high-caliber coaches and bring back high-potential former players as staff members.
If App continues on this trajectory, it will be a lot of fun to see where our coaching alumni go and the level of success they attain in the future.

Can we not shorten this up for those that have data caps on their internet and just say "Give to Yosef."
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Cortney Braswell Out?
And with that future success maybe they will increase their own giving. Helping Yosef fund coaches saler.... oh wait a minute, how did that go???? oh yeah, "donate to Yosef Club, so we can fully fund scholarships with that money instead of using athletic budget money for it and thus, be able to provide higher salaries for coaches." Had to cover the bases, thanks ASN.

Ummm. I first got the info off this board years ago. Guess that poster didn't have any common sense,
