It's a little surprising to me that the lights are still on in Kiev , and my friend has internet. He made it through the night and is restricted to his hotel , slept in the basement.Food is becoming a concern.

Speaking of Putin, many if not all, major USA media outlets including CBS are saying that the angry, isolated, and paranoid Russian has put his entire nuclear empire on high alert.

Excuse me, but have some of us forgotten the "politics ban" on this forum?

The only good outcome might be that someone in his inner circle manages to put a slug in his head.

Solid information. If you are like most Americans and couldn't point to Ukraine on a labelled globe this crew keeps up with and explains parts of this war.

It’s beginning to look like a large segment of the Russian army has little desire to be there and they absolutely don’t want to have street fights with angry local militia. Obviously those brave souls can’t compete with tanks but they aren’t going to roll over. Saw a drone take out several Russian vehicles today.

I worked with two Ukrainian brother for a while. Both very hard working good guys. One lost a hand in a motorcycle accident. Worked with his hands so he made himself three different prosthetic hands. Two different hands to work with and the third so he could ride his motorcycle. If there are many like him in Ukraine, and it looks like there might be, the Russians are in for a very long fight. God bless those folks.

I would love to see President Zelensky make a speech to the Russian people and appeal for them to rise up or to come join them in the fight and/or overthrow Putin and offer to show them the way to democracy and capitalism and all of the fruits that come from a democracy for the common people not just the elites.

Here's his speech to the Russian people. Sent 4 days ago. They will never hear it over Russian airwaves.

Given some of the protests I’m seeing, I’d say some are seeing it!

I know Russians and I know Ukranians , some very well , and they see each other as kin. They are in a state of shock ,dismay and abject sadness. They also tell me that Putin , a bully , was afraid of the US .Was . Now he sees weakness , and opportunity. We are in very dangerous times.BTW I have a friend , American , in Kyiv right now and am still getting real time updates .Tonight and tomorrow are critical.Make no mistake the Ukranians are fighting like hell.
Well, Putin may have seen weakness but he was dead wrong. NATO may have been weakened and somewhat fractured in recent years but American leadership has made it stronger and more united than it has been at any point in this century.

This seems almost a reverse of Dessert Storm. When we went into Iraq the Republican Guard was supposedly going to put up a massive fight that never materialized. They had no desire to fight us. Putin apparently figured that he would just stroll in and everyone would lay down. He can mow down women and children if he wishes but I’m willing to bet that a majority of his army has little desire to street fight with extremely angry residents of these cities he’s trying to take.

The situation in Ukraine is very different from Dessert Storm though. Putin has hopes of annexing and governing these people, so the tactics are different. We had dominated the Iraqis with air attacks and it was clear to them that they couldn't stand against us. I agree that Putin thought they would put up little resistance, so it's good to see him with a bit of egg on his face.

Mostly likely, he will have a "heart attack" sometime this week.
