We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. Wi-Fi, it’s not that difficult.
Why do you need Wi-Fi to watch a live football game?
You can’t simply enjoy the live event you’re at. How old are you?
I love live football and I love good wi-fi. I want to check other scores, take a look at in game stats, keep an eye on the Cabin, etc. while I'm at the game. I also might watch a replay or two during the TV timeouts. And, I may want to make a post or two on social media. if we truly want to be "the best 30,000 seat venue in America" ... connectivity is a part of that.

Beyond that, i thought the in-stadium experience improved in many positive ways last season. The staff did their homework and was ready for the big crowd for the Carolina game and that carried throughout the rest of the year.

You don't "need" Wifi to watch football, but it's a basic piece of infrastructure that is expected and it is involved with certain services. I know it's sometimes nice to pull up the Roster or google something I'm trying to remember about a player / coach or whatever. It's become part of our society. Yes, I also have my scoreboard app that I monitor on Saturdays.

Upgrading the wifi in KBS is a known need, and I'm sure it's on the list. I have no idea no idea where it is in the priority list. It's not a make or break issue for me, but I don't think it deserves to be dismissed.

I understand the reality of things, folks simply must be on a device these days. I also understand it offers some cool things. But I must say that way too many of us get caught up in what’s on the device and miss experience thats actually going on around us. I’ve been to a bunch of really awesome events over the last couple of years and I’ve had to make a conscious effort to put my device away and enjoy the moment. I also know that others around me using devices have been a distraction for me being able to enjoy the actual event I’m at. Just my two cents, moderate the use of your device, everyone including you will have a better game day experience. I’m not preaching directly at you. Just a general statement.

The notion what is can be done to enhance the GameDay experience. If this is something would be welcomed by many then it's worth the consideration rather than a lecture on cell phone use. I don't drink and one certainly can enjoy a game without a beer and I'm sure has caused more issues than cell use but I'm not opposed to it being sold given it's popularity and revenue.

If they add WiFi to the stadium, expect it to be a revenue generator as well. Would not be surprised to see the ability to order concessions from your phone and go pick them up at the stand -- or deliver to you for a fee.

Also, would not be surprised to see it tied to some kind of advertisement.

In 2017 estimates at 5 mil for stadium wifi install. Given inflation and smaller stadium size I would wage it would be 3.5-4 mil for wifi initial install for us.

The install quotes have been between 4 and 5 million. The problem is the upkeep and maintenance. Our on campus IT department cannot handle it without more resources -- which obviously adds costs.

If they can kick the can down the road for 2 years or so advancements in 5g tech could significantly reduce the upfront cost to bring Wi-Fi to the stadium.

I’m okay with a 30 second ad to get some reliable Wi-Fi. I embrace the chance to disconnect for a little while as I watch App play ball. Still, I enjoy being able to look up stats, GOOGLE SOMETHING (while I enjoy my beer), or be able to receive a message should an unthinkable family emergency arise.

The cost is big, but with the captive audience, worth it.

Bingo. Just like 300+ million in construction coming the next 5 years, not many out here care about the maintenance aspect of such things, which only increases every year.

So call it $5M + 500k/year of maintenance. That's .0002% of the $350M in construction on campus over the next 5 years. If we can find or get approved for $350M, surely we can tack on .000002% more. Construction costs and maintenance aren't getting any cheaper. In 2 years those numbers will be north of $5M for wifi and $400M for the improvements.

Campus construction and athletics enhancements are a completely different budget.. can't just tack it on.

I’m just fine with Pepsi products.

A good chunk of that $350M is going towards Athletic Facilities and Enhancements. New indoor, track and field, Homes convo…etc. Anyway, I’m sure they’ll keep up with the national stadium trends and improve/install the Wifi infrastructure at Kidd Brewer eventually.

This was just a comment in general, as far as campus goes. No one really considers the costs of maintaining after something is built, and the main bulk of that comes 20 years after a building is built, when major upgrades are needed.

Would like to see KBS west side concrete pressure washed. Paint front of steps Gold. Also like to see Arrows pointed to the right on the back of each section enter and exit ramps/tunnels on the west side. So as people walk down the stairs and get near the bottom they know to go down the stairs on the right and then come back up the stairs on the other side as the stairs narrow and prohibit two way traffic on each side of the enter and exit ramp/tunnel.

So I would have to come up and around the entry tunnel and back down to get to my seats.
