Agreed. With the state of their program we are still way better than theirs despite the issues we have had. Beating them is nothing to brag about right now.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:29 amThe last thing I wanted to do was brag about beating ECU.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:27 amHow many on here bragged during last week working at their factory job or state paying job or in the Dook Power break room about beating in state rival EZU??

Re: Wyoming Discussion
When we got destroyed by WKU in the bowl game I told the family that was the beginning of a downhill spiral for App State Football. Then last year going 6-6, beating ole Bob Morris shouldn't even have counted, losing to stink the way we did made me feel even stronger that App football was not where it should be. Bottom line Clark wins 2 of every 3 games. For some that's fine, for diehard App fans that's not satisfactory and I feel like even Clark would admit that. I see another 6-7 win season ahead of us. I'm still wearing my App State t-shirt today and will continue to support the players but if overall coaching doesn't get any better I will be receptive to a HC change at the end of the season.

I understand that feeling completely and I think Shawn would agree with you. I am hopeful we can go 8-4 but I am mentally prepared to go 7-5 or 6-6. We play a very tough schedule in the best G5 league in the country.appstate5 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:40 amWhen we got destroyed by WKU in the bowl game I told the family that was the beginning of a downhill spiral for App State Football. Looked back since 2015 and the ones with Stink were the only conference losses. 2018 was probably the best year followed by 2019 with the Stink loss. It looks like since even 2015 we only had a handful of wins over teams who actually finished over .500. While many thought a few of our teams were "loaded" in reality we played lots of mediocre teams. I'm proud of my school and all we have accomplished. I've said many times that people must overlook the fact that teams we play actually recruit, practice and coach just as hard as we do. I'm still excited about the conference slate and see a lot of promise.
No. Wrong for so many reasons. Not going to take the time to explain the successes of each of those seasons. This is just a way to try to cover for shawn clark. To say "oh we never beat good teams anyway" so wrong. Stop with the passive shawn clark deffense. Unacceptable.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
I love it WM, attention to the details! After yesterdays performance is added to the mounting evidence. Attention to details in player preparation and in game decisions appears IMHO to be the major thing lacking in our HC's body of work.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 9:04 amActually, a 6-6 record with 2 of the wins being against FCS opponents does not qualify as bowl eligible.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
I hope we continue to schedule strong. Playing ECU/Wyoming/UNC/TAMU/Clemson etc… is way more fun for fans and players than scheduling the weaker fcs schools. Even if our records take a little hit in scheduling difficult games. Jealous of the Apps that made the trek to Wyoming, looked like an awesome time!

Re: Wyoming Discussion
The biggest gripe I have right now, is we have an all time fan interaction with the team. Dropping games like last night hurts our image and our program. It’s simply unacceptable… I do not see how Clark will turn it around. Love the guy, love he is an app guy but this ain’t it

Re: Wyoming Discussion
It’s just so, so, so rare that a position coach makes the jump right to head coach and is successful. The sooner we come to this reality, the better. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy. I think everyone on here is rooting for him. But he’s not the guy.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
OC/DC is one thing, or qb coach, But OL line coaches making the jump and succeeding is even more rare in todays game. Think I caused an uproar in 2021 with this.

Your attempt to lecture us on App State’s ceiling is well noted.
Putting your personal feelings above the interest of the program is well noted.
I’ve dealt with this type of sentiment all my years as a Mountaineer.
We will set the standard again in the SBC, wish it were Clark, but either way it will happen.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
Of our next 4 opponents, none are near as good as Wyoming and we dominated them outside of 3 weird plays. I’d say ECU is better than our next 4. I fully expect to be bowl eligible after this next 4 game stretch.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
Losing to a team that we physically dominated all night long is the definition of being out coached. Clark was outcoached. I said last week that I liked some of what I was seeing from the staff, but I was cautiously optimistic. Last night showed me more of the same from the last few seasons that made me doubt them. Again, I love Clark as a man, but App State is failing under is leadership. We have to start assuming that he will be too prideful to step aside and prepare ourselves for the tough decision to fire one of our own.

Tough loss. Dominate the entire game and lose off of 3 plays. We gave that game away. Red zone offense was nonexistent and was the difference. There was no reason we shouldn’t have scored 2-3 TDs. Conference play starts next week and I want to see us run the table because I truly think we have the team to do it.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
I don't quite understand what you think is wrong. I'm pointing out that over that time frame we had good records but only actually beat a handful of teams who ultimately had winning records. No slight on those seasons in which we ended up winning 10+ games but in most of them the opponents as a whole were not nearly as good as they are now. Pre portal if you had a veteran team you probably did well. Now some of the old cellar dwellers in the Belt just go get a bunch of transfers and fill gaps.AppSt12 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:54 amBigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:10 am2015- Stink
