I know I keep circling back to the non conference schedule (225 out of 305) but 5 out of the 6 three games series they played were again team with an RPI 208 or higher. That's a hard one for the committee to over look when evaluating teams. Baseball is not like the revenue sports where you get paid to got play bigger schools. I don't know how they overcome this with the budget they are on.
We need a P5 series on the schedule every year. Going to S. Illinois was a wasted trip and cost the same, if not more, as playing against a regional P5 if we could have found an opening. Maybe we couldn't find a P5 to play.
I know that was a late add I don't think had many options because it was in Dec.

They need a 3 game series against a regional P5 but it most likely will have to be away. I don't see them going to Boone. WV was the outlier.
Yes, any 3 game series v P5 is always away. I thought we usually played a P5 series but man, we actually haven't in a while. I wonder if that is because we're in the Sun Belt now and spend the money on long away conference weekends. P5 series are fun for the kids, hopefully we can find some money to start doing those again.
If we had played 3 vs. a P5 and won 1 of those, our RPI would be up there with JMU's.

Did we have someone bail on us late? Who was it?

I think an at-large bid is pretty much out of the question. Winning 2/3 or sweeping AND making the SBC tourney title would likely put us in the conversation but just don't see it happening. Win 1 this weekend and we're in the top 6. That being said, if we win Thursday, do we "throw off" the rest of the weekend and have our arms ready for the tourney? Don't think where we land really matters as long as we're top 6.
Hope not, it’s still the stink on Sr weekend.
I'm not saying go lose on purpose. But if we win on Thursday, maybe don't run Chirico out for 100 pitches on Friday. Let him throw 2 or 3 innings as a bullpen day and have him ready to roll on Wednesday.
Why wouldn't you throw #33 on Wed? 5 days should be enough.
I actually think throwing him on Day 2 makes more sense. Whether he pitches game 1 or game 2, he is likely some for the rest of the tournament. If you throw a Chirico or Wilson, with Tuthill, Welch or Tujitch in any combination, they are more likely to be able to go Sat or Sunday depending on need.

Not a good weather forecast for Fri/Sat. I just want a solid home series weather wise with leaves on the trees to show how beautiful the Beav and it’s surroundings are.

We will need to win the tournament to make the NCAA. I can see a couple , maybe three , Sunbelt teams in without winning it , we just aren’t one of them. My assessment anyway.

Troy, UL and USM are probably in. Whoever goes the farthest out of JMU App and Coastal might sneak in. We've got the most work to do it seems. Our final series will tell us what we need to do to make it but most likely a deep run or a title is needed.

62nd in RPI as it stands today.

Steensma looks good after leadoff HR, setting down 9 in a row. Now Banks with a solo shot for a 4-1 lead!

Tolley has to be a strong candidate for SBC POY with all the slugging numbers he leads or is near the top in. Amazing season. Finish strong Banks!

It would be some utter bullcrap if he didn't win it. He's got the best numbers, on a good team, and we played 3-5 games less than everyone else.

Steensma's first walk since April 13th, woah. That's good.

Southern tried to get Steensma thrown out by having the umps check his glove.

Something's gonna happen today.
