The job is to win games under the rules that we and our peers are playing under.

Good question and I'd say no. I think preseason rankings are going to be more irrelevant than they've ever been in G5 and lower-mid P4 due to the reasons you've stated above. I'd say the only accurate preseason ranking will be the powerhouse teams that don't have much attrition due to the fact they're at the top (sans backups). Which loops us back around to the topic of we only have info based on what our own athletic department and "sources" tell us we have. Georgia State could be great next year with changes. We could be great next year with changes. There's just no way to know anymore.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 7:54 amIn this new era of college football does late season “improvement” really carry over to the next season? Teams can start slow or badly, turn things around and finish strong then lose a dozen or so guys to the Portal, a bunch more to graduation, lose some coaches, etc and it’s start over again in the fall. If your program is good you generally regroup and you’re good again, bad and bad. This is by no means saying to make a change. Like most anyone here I’m not qualified to assess and make the decisions. This is just to say that there aren’t many examples of teams really building off of prior seasons unless they now buy players and restock.

This is why what’s happened with App has been even more baffling. Yes, there was a rebuild along the OL, but App returned a lot of key contributors on both sides of the ball. We had reason to believe the OL performance might be a let down in 2024, but the surprise has been the regression at other positions this season.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 7:54 amIn this new era of college football does late season “improvement” really carry over to the next season? On a related note…one thing that has always been critical to our success has been player leadership, both on the field and in the locker room. App has a gaggle of captains this season (not sure why), but how many are true leaders? How many are leading by example and holding others accountable? This has always been a critical piece of our success.

I think there is a small minority of posters here that would rather lose with an App guy than win with someone else.Pikapp79 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:48 pmFar from itYosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 5:08 amDon't be ridiculous.
Sure they’d rather win with an an App guy, but they’ll take losing with an App guy over winning with a non App guy.

Not sure that is accurate. I think people do not want another "Drink" is because he was here only 1 year coaches is not sustainable.
I am not aware of anyone that wants to lose as long as we have an App.guy coaching.

Re: GA St Discussion-Game Thread
I think today will be emotional. Many folks will traveling to the mtns for the first time since Helene. The team and the students will have an opportunity to celebrate and showcase their school for the first time in forever. How the players handle all of the emotions will determine the outcome.
Either they will demolish GSU or it will be a high penalty, crushing loss, effectively ending the season and perhaps Clarks tenure. Massive amounts riding on today.

I don't think anyone likes how this year has gone, and I would wager the number is dwindling.

Regardless of our opinions re: Clark and the state of the program, 100% of us would more accurately state,
"I don't want to be told I'm wrong, and I don't want to be proven wrong."
It's just human nature, fellas.

Can’t argue with this start.

Got to get six when players are wide open. Missing 3 isn't the answer.

Feel like we should have gone for it anyways just given the fact we had a lot of momentum. Oh well.

Most Clark thing ever. Run it on 3rd and 8. Settle for a FG. Miss a chip shot. LOL
