I know i have put this out before, but someone in g6 need to make this happen. 4 Confernces of 9.

Play 2 opening ooc games and then go into conference play. With agreements from the other 3 conferences to keep weeks 10 and 11 open to play 1 - 9 of the other conference and then 1 through 9 of the other confernce and then 1 through 9 of the last conference. It would lead to half of your conference flying out west for 1 game.
The tv contract should he sold as 1. The winner of this would get a playoff spot and possibly the top two would get two spots. The next 36 teams that get left out of the p3 should try to make this happen with NBC or CBS or netflix.
It would automatically make great games that mattered and i would watch all of my conference teams to win against other conferences. The schools would rotate home and away each year. The final game would almost have to be two ranked teams. All of the money should be split evenly for the four conferences for tv money for weeks 10, 11 and 12 games. To save money you could just line up the top four of each conference and everyone else gets paired with teams close by for weeks 10, 11, 12. For example if App, Charlotte, ECU are not in the tip 4 then we could play each other week 10, 11, 12. This would not be as hard as it sounds. It is basicly a year long playoffs.

I believe this is what fans say they want, but what they really want is to see their team beat their rivals. Just like when you go to see a band of your youth, you could care less about their new stuff, you just want to hear them play the songs you know.

What might be realistic, given where things stand today , is an eighteen school league. Two divisions, each scheduling within them selves until post season. We would only need to add four. AAC schools aren’t going to take the financial hit. They would have to come from CUSA or the MAC. And remember I said where things stand today. If AAC falls apart, different conversation.

If (within the next two years) the ACC loses five to other conferences what are the realistic chances that we would be offered a spot there?
Duke, NC State, Clemson, FSU, UNC leaving. Miami could possibly make six.

In the above scenario, are there four (non AAC) that the Sunbelt could add that would even be worth adding?

I personally don't see any chance of it now and I think we need to really wait until 2027 or 2028 before we start to debate this because this really could be a question we laugh at for even considering by then. We could be struggling heavily and take a huge step back and barely be attractive to even the AAC. The ACC could stick together or only lose a couple teams and there not be a place. There could be enough teams left from NC that they just block us and prevent it no matter what a lot of the others in the league think. We are not in a big TV market so that will always go against us. Just a lot that can happen here and a lot of it are things we can't control.

That is a long way down the road and there is way too much that can happen with realignment that will determine this. I remember someone asked about our chances at the playoff in the preseason last year and I said we need to wait a little bit and see it play out. We all know what happened to us.

Many questions to be answered and scenarios to develop.

My personal opinion is that a lot would have to happen for us to be in the running so we need to see what develops. I feel like by the start of 2028 we will have a pretty good idea of what is coming. I know Gillin has the dream of us joining the ACC eventually.

We could end up in a conference with ECU and other AAC members, but no chance of a conference with any current ACC member. We don't have the support to put ourselves in that discussion.

Then pick from ODU, UNCC, GA St to round it out.
I like the idea of a smaller 9/10 team conference of true peers.

Why carry around the dead weight of schools that aren't truly committed?...go against the grain of "bigger is better" and provide a quality , desirable product.

At around minute mark 14:33 there is a comment about Appalachian State. "They are very weird about Appalachian State in that they are 1000% Appalachian State Men."

It simply makes too much sense to have 10 team conferences made up of strictly regional teams. I look at that list and think of games in Boone. Nearly every team mentioned is a huge crowd except maybe Ga State. Play 9 conference games, a power school, a G5 peer and a crappy FCS for a tuneup game. Scrap the conference championship games. If necessary let the bottom 4 rated conference champs play each other and the two winners advance to the playoffs.

So simple & logical it wont happen lol

In all honesty I bet the biggest hurdle to this is the TV contract isn't lucrative enough without 12+ teams...That said I wish the SB would leave ESPN, create their own app, charge $150 a year (Honesty Id pay more) and do their own thing.

Can’t say I agree with you here. I also think it’s bold to think Keith Gill is that level of visionary.

As far as TV goes, I think you are about to find out how much people care about football and the big names...ie UNC. We (AppSt) and ECU are accustomed to having to pay to watch our brand, these UNC/NCState/Wake/Duke fans are about to have to pay to see their team. It will be interesting to see how ESPN works it out. I think they will find quickly that people are not willing to pay.

Enough will be willing to pay to make it worth their investment into the broadcast. For every fan that has been watching for 20-50+ years and is fed up with what is going on, there is a new fan in their teens- early twenties who think nothing of paying 15 bucks a more per month for a streaming channel, it is what they have grown up with and know. Hell, a ton of these kids pay 7 bucks for a cup of Starbuck's coffee multiple times a day. Sadly, we are quickly becoming the "get of my lawn" guys that nobody ever wanted to be. Things are changing and the younger generations are always better with change.

The younger generation doesn’t watch sports like we do, they just watch clips. The NBA has suffered from this, football seems to be less susceptible thus far, but let’s see.

But we are not talking about Starbucks or a streaming channel.

NASCAR has been chasing the younger generation for years to the detriment of the sport and it's attendance. There are no guarantees that the next generation is going to replaced with a new fan. The entertainment budget has far more options then it had and the financial requirements may outpace the interest of the "new" fan.
