You can work hard and still have a big ego ..or maybe he just comes across as a A-hole in interviews.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 9:21 pmWhy do you all think he has a huge ego? He works hard and knows his craft. It isn’t ego, it’s certainty. When you work that hard, you become more assured in your craft. I’d kill to have his work ethic myself and if I were a player, I wouldn’t think twice about going to play for him, if for no other reason to learn how to work.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:56 pmHe is a Pitt grad. His ego will definitely consider that job heavily if offered. A graduate of Lil brother school gets opportunity at Big Brother school... Right up his ego ...
My opinion based on some interviews.
With that said, he got quite a few players from JMU to transfer to IU. Good for him.

Tech's budget for 2025-26 is $190 million. That said, I don't see him going to Tech as he'll have better offers elsewhere but Tech could afford him.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:05 pmIndiana’s athletic budget is 20% larger than VTs.
Then there’s the TV deal discrepancy:
The Big Ten has a significantly larger media deal, valued at over $7 billion and projected to pay out more than $82 million per school, while the ACC's deal is valued at approximately $3.6 billion and has a complex revenue distribution with a cap around $20.5 million for even distribution and an additional 60% for performance-based rewards. This financial gap is a primary driver of conference realignment talks, as the Big Ten's deal provides much more money to its members

The UNC job is going to be tough to fill...I dont see the donors wanting to pay out what it takes to get rid of BB then pay more for a new guy and the players to go with him.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 9:23 pmDon't know if they will but they should. Indiana's budget was ~$40MM higher than Techs budget in 2024 in Knight Commission. Big 10 is (stupidly) going to close on a $2B PE deal that will give each school an additional minimum $100MM in liquidity.hapapp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 6:09 amTech's budget for 2025-26 is $190 million. I have no doubt that Indiana could match and exceed anything VT could put on the table. Additionally, VT doesn't offer anything extra that Cignetti might be interested in (access to the NC game). Hell with the win on Saturday, IU might make a run this year.
I wouldn't be surprised ot see James Franklin make his way down to Blacksburg however.

Isn't the PE deal staggered that the better brands will get more money out of it? .Ohio State gets more than a Purdue overall, etc. Thought I read that somewhere. ..with that maybe minimum for everyone is $100 million.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 7:43 amIndiana's budget was ~$40MM higher than Techs budget in 2024 in Knight Commission. Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Cignetti thrives on being the underdog and challenges. I think he stays at IU until they make it to the national championship game.... then moves on to resurrect some faded powerhouse with money..... or who knows, the NFL may come calling.

Cignetti brought back their mascot this year they had not had one for years before this. That is a coach who understands how important your roots are. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/c ... 637663007/
That is a stroke of genius. https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... cot-return
People love nostalgia. Remember how much people loved it when they brought back Yosef as Victory Yosef. What else do people remember fondly that could be brought back? Heck the school brought back the logo from the Mack Brown/Sparky Woods era with the flying Yosef and the Mike Working A Sunday. https://www.helmethistory.com/appalachian-state.html

Don't you guys think Shane Beamer ends up back at VT? - There is just too many great programs in the SEC to overtake - Much better opportunities to make the Playoffs in the ACC.

I'm hearing but don't know how true it is, that Tech wants to move away from the Beamer influence.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
I don't think that Cignetti would have any interest in going to Tech but the administration there has a plan to infuse +$220M over the next four years into the budget including an addition $47M this year alone. Not sure why he would take a step down from where he currently residesBallantyneApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 7:43 amIndiana's budget was ~$40MM higher than Techs budget in 2024 in Knight Commission. Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
He's showing so far that he can contend for national titles in the Big Ten already. The draw to bring the home state flagship to the top may be too tempting to ignore, but there is exactly one path to a positive there and a ton of negatives compared to where he is right now.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 6:48 pmIf I’m PSU, I’d put all my chips on the table to get Cignetti….. he’s already a proven winner at IU….. crazy to say that. He’d kill it at PSU but it won’t come cheap. They’ll have to offer something around $11-12 M plus whatever he wants for asst pool, NIL, rev. share. While it took him awhile to get a D1 HC job, his rise and unrivaled success is nothing short of stunning. At PSU could contend regularly for a National Championship. There aren’t lots of those around.
Given he's from the Saban tree, I would think he's more likely to stay at IU until DeBoer is out at Bama, and that is where he jumps to.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
I said what I did based on the guess that UNC is working to find enough evidence to remove Bill with cause. I have no doubt they will not what to pay him any buyout. Donors will not want to pay him a ton of money to just fire him. Plus, it is early as well. I will be curious to see the buzz in a month from now.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 7:34 amThe UNC job is going to be tough to fill...I dont see the donors wanting to pay out what it takes to get rid of BB then pay more for a new guy and the players to go with him.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 9:23 pmDon't know if they will but they should.
