Re: Time for some BBQ discussions
You can't forget the importance of a good dropping of fried cornbread. It must be on the sweet side. Screw the puppies, I want the deliciousness from the hush. I'm more likely to give the dogs some pork. WV, message me a week or two before any games you might make. I'll bring some Lexington-Style from the lake side of Lexington. We're easy to find in stadium lot, we tailgate with the only ginormous RV in there. It's near duck pond/justice.

I mean....Easter already passed. But if something is ever worthy enough to also rise from the dead, I suppose a BBQ discussion isn't a terrible second.

I thought this message board was intended for football, bbq and livermush discussions. What else is there to share thoughts about?

Main st.,also in Marion. They're good if your passing through to see a game

Have to agree with The Rock as the BBQ Center is still the best. Of course I'm a little biased since my Dad started it in 1958. lexington BBQ is second best to me as I have know Wayne Monk practically all my life. Those big banana splits at the BBQ Center were started by my Grandmother along with her banana pudding.

I've eaten BBQ in 36 states and can say emphatically from experience that Californians and New Englanders don't know how to make BBQ.

Is the BBQ Center the restaurant that relocated down the street from the original recently? I have eaten at Lexington BBQ. I didn’t think it was worthy of the hype. I did enjoy their bbq slaw.PG73 wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 2:29 pmHave to agree with The Rock as the BBQ Center is still the best. Re: Time for some BBQ discussions
I use to work at a school down there and a lot of our teams made it a stop on the way back from games(and I'm sure still do). Those banana splits are amazing. The tennis teams especially loved swinging through after a match.PG73 wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 2:29 pmHave to agree with The Rock as the BBQ Center is still the best. Lexington BBQ never did it for me. I'm not sure how they got all their hype but I tried it at their restaurant and at the bbq festival and I wasn't all that impressed. But the festival made up for it when I would slip in to High Rock and snag a few brews. Awesome place to see some good music.
Speedy's is good. A hunk of Q and a big scoop of slaw from them was a nice tray of food.
Re: Time for some BBQ discussions
The BBQ Center has not moved since 1960, but has recently gone through a couple renovations. Still on North Main in Lexington. Speedy's is good as well, big portions and know one of the owners, Boyd Dunn from high school.I cooked at the first 10 Barbecue Festivals and cannot believe how big it has gotten over 30 years. Had to miss most all App football games in my time there as had to go home to work at BBQ Center on weekends.

Re: Time for some BBQ discussions
There's a new place in Charlotte called Noble Smoke that is far and away the best place in town now. Their brisket is Texas-level. Almost as good as the one I made on the Traeger last month.

Re: Time for some BBQ discussions
Lots of good BBQ places throughout NC and some other states (just avoid mustard sauces), but I've reached the point that I eat very little BBQ that doesn't come out of my own smoker. I'm more likely to get brisket than traditional NC BBQ because I don't get around to making brisket very often. Regardless, BBQ is just a great thing.
