My guess is that there will be some minor upgrades prior to the 2014 season and major renovation/expansion in either 2015 or 2016.

I know we don't have to be told of every conversation had behind closed doors but I do think that the sooner the university releases a detailed plan for KBS and a fundraising goal that needs to be reached, the better.

They are losing all the excitement and momentum that could be garnered by an announcement of Kidd Brewer expansion being released just after the Sun Belt announcement.

In the meantime Louisiana made a huge stadium improvement and seating expansion. This is what our football coaches are recruiting against Now, this doesn't include their half dozen announced enlargements and improvements.

Plus Georgia Southern's ground breaking the other day of their double decking their stadium in Statesboro.

Couple things;
First, we're still playing a SoCon schedule next year, no excitement lost. The real excitement starts when we start playing a Sun Belt schedule and start seeing FBS teams in KBS.
Second, Georgia Southern HAD to do something with their stadium. They were going to be WAY behind the rest of the Sun Belt when they officially joined. As for KBS, it's still in the top half of the Sun Belt, track or no track.

Dear God, chill out. We just had a record-breaking fundraising stretch. Momentum is not being lost. The Campaign is going along just fine and we're working toward being secure for the next 10-20 years instead of a short-sighted gain.

Also, half the fans in that ULL stadium picture are not ULL fans. Also, GSU is trying to catch up to where we were in 2009.

I really liked bcoach's idea of demolishing the existing concrete stands. I just rewatched the Illinois State game (just the first half, before the pain got too bad) and KBS looked a bit piecemeal and spread out, If we bring the stands closer (leaving the hill of course) and make a true horseshoe on the Owen's field house side, it would be perfect (at least in my daydreams at work it is). With such a beautiful setting, and the press box/athletics center being the top-notch sexy facility that it is; the only way to do them justice is to revamp the entire stands and concourse. I know it's probably not feasible, especially since we're looking to add suites and the budget would probably get tight if we wanted to maintain the same capacity, but it's a shame to keep hobbling parts together like the aforementioned rendering showed.

A lot of complacent people concerning Kidd Brewer expansion.
Sit on your rear end and say nothing then.
Our facilities are better in our own minds than they actually are.
Sounds like the former AD at GaSo, Baker.

You act as if we have some influence over this process. We don't. I do know that many people in the athletic department read this board. They know what is being said. Unless you have some extra millions buried in a coffee can that you're willing to part with, we're going to have wait a bit.

That's probably the most idiotic thing you have said. Congratulations, you topped the "Did AAC Steal the App State block "A""

That popped up in my Google alert this morning. I didn't even bother clicking on it, because I knew that it would likely make me want to put a bullet through my skull with its sheer idiocy. If it was at all serious (I don't know, because I didn't read the thread), then the OP should be banned from the internet for the rest of eternity.

In my opinion KBS is good for the next few years. Looking at the SB attendance figures App State can accommodate SBC teams right now. I know that we will probably not be able to interest OOC FBS teams until we make some renovations,so I support the idea of both a short term and long term plan. For the interim, let's just add temporary bleachers to get us up to about 35K. The long term plan means concrete and an expansion to about 45k with the capacity to expand again in the future. I'm afraid that if we try to dig down that would mean well over a year of work. Where would the team play for a year? I think that a more realistic option is to remove the track and grass the whole area in. Perhaps add shrubs to beautify the field. Then add concrete seating in the north end zone giving KBS a horseshoe. That seating could come right up to the back of the end zone. Then, renovate the south end zone with a stadium seating/dormitory combination. Finally, renovate the STATE side with concrete two tier seating.

Do you sit around all day looking for things to complain about? Get over it.

None of us are being complacent, we just live in reality. If you're so concerned, call up CC and donate the money to do it how you want it done. If you can't or won't, then give it a rest.

Do you have your directions reversed? Why would you put a dorm in the south end zone?

My mistake, reverse the end zones.

How does everyone feel about having a real bell down on the sidelines? I have briefly looked into companies to make a large sized bell which someone on the sidelines could ring to replace the audio file which we currently use.

My idea is for a large bell on a wheeled platform which could be stored in the field house, and brought out for home games. Attach wireless microphones to the bell platform so that it is loud enough to be heard throughout the campus whenever we score/3rd downs/whenever the need arose.

I can't take credit for that. Saint came up with that and I only endorsed the idea for the long term solution.

Kind of coming into this thread late. I remember last time the university did stadium renovations and put the new field in etc, they had a webcam so enthusiasts, alumni and other obsessive fans like all of us could look at the progress. Will they have that for these upcoming renovations?

Nobody could give you an accurate answer since we have no idea what the renovations will entail or when they will begin.

- All you do is complain about things ASUMountaineer. To accuse someone else of doing the same is short sighted. You obviously do not know what's going on. So why not ask why? Other schools that have joined FBS conferences have made some effort just after doing so. ODU sure made the most of it, GaSo is doing the same. Even UNCC just got an extra $10,000,000 for naming rights to their stadium.
Doesn't seem too hard for the administration to make a statement about a time table. There are no state secrets to keep now.
All you are doing is ignoring things.

I'm ignoring nothing. ODU and GSU's stadiums need renovating to be FBS-ready. Ours does not. Perhaps the administration hasn't put anything out yet because they don't have a finalized plan yet.

Why don't you give CC a call or shoot him an email and tell him that he owes everyone a statement about a possible expansion of KBS? Why not offer to pay for the changes that you, undoubtedly, feel are necessary? Of course, you could just stick to complaining on anonymous message boards, because I'm sure that will spur the type of action you feel you're owed.
