Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Two games canceled, one 'almost' upset, but 4 losses on the night for the Sun Belt.
4-4 overall. The two canceled games will NOT be rescheduled or made up.
Texas State was up 11-10 in the top of the 9th, only to give up a grand slam. Didn't get much going in the bottom of the 9th to spark the comeback.

I am guessing Stink was not winning 1-0 going into bottom of ninth and Gators scored 12 runs...oh, how I wish that could have happened

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Warren Nolan has APP winning 2 of 3 this weekend. So they got that going for them! Now just go out and pull the upset.
*Edit* It now has a sweep the other way so just go and win.

Getting pummeled by a supposedly lesser program, twice , does not enhance my confidence in our coaching staff. They looked like a better team and the score reflected the same. Are we getting out recruited that badly ? Or is it player development? 1-3 against ETSU and Western .

ETSU? I would hardly say they are lesser program. Weaker conference - yes - but not a lesser program by any means. Very similar record and trajectory as APP since the coach has been there. Both him and KS came in at similar times.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:17 amGetting pummeled by a supposedly lesser program, twice , does not enhance my confidence in our coaching staff. 16 players drafted since 2010

Don't forget GWebb and High Point, we struggled vs. them as well.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:17 amGetting pummeled by a supposedly lesser program, twice , does not enhance my confidence in our coaching staff. It feels weird to say this, but it seems the goal for midweeks this year is to "get our work in" instead of doing what you need to do to win.
For example, Reyn Watson was absolutely on fire last night, struck about everyone out, and we pulled him after 20 pitches in a close game. If we were really trying to win, like ETSU, who kept their ace reliever in, we wouldn't have pulled Watson.
We also had 1 guy leave 6 on base and numerous errors. Just an off night but most midweeks are tracking to be one and the same.

Is it me, or are we seeing more “overcoaching” from Kermit this year? As if he’s overthinking the process and not giving the kids a reasonable opportunity to get out there and do their thing?311neers wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 12:06 pmDon't forget GWebb and High Point, we struggled vs. them as well.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:17 amGetting pummeled by a supposedly lesser program, twice , does not enhance my confidence in our coaching staff. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Then if that's the case then should never be any talk about advanced post season play. Now I don't think that's the case just think they are limited to what they are.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 12:06 pmDon't forget GWebb and High Point, we struggled vs. them as well.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:17 amGetting pummeled by a supposedly lesser program, twice , does not enhance my confidence in our coaching staff. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
The difference between the 2 teams again is...(exhausting) pitching - for what ever reason you want to put with it.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
If midweeks matter, then why do we continue to pull guys that are throwing well after 15-20 pitches. Also, Fisher in the 4th inning down 3? And then Wilson in the 8th down by 4? We can say we are trying to win, and that is probably the case but it doesn't seem like its the top priority for midweeks. Top priority seems to be about getting our work in against someone other than ourselves, like a scrimmage. Throw all guys, 20 pitch limits, wash rinse and repeat.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 12:13 pmThen if that's the case then should never be any talk about advanced post season play. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
IMO as we discussed a bunch - even though there is 15-20 "pitchers" every year there are only 4-5 that are reliable (injuries or other) and I think the coaching staff knows this so they have to pick their poison. The coaching staff gets them their weekday work (whatever the pitch count is for them) The last 2 series have worked out but pitching in all probability will run thin the next couple of series with the quality of opponents.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 12:24 pmIf midweeks matter, then why do we continue to pull guys that are throwing well after 15-20 pitches.
