Yeah we can only go up from where we’ve been at.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
Just now seeing this. Had resigned myself to that was it for the season! Well, I said it on my company conference call this morning and it still fits. It's Jimmy V week and as he said it best "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up!" Go Mountaineers!!!

I’m not against playing the game. My question was merely about extra practice and is it the benefit it once was?Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 11:27 amI've never gotten worse when putting structure time into learning an activity.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 7:44 amI know everyone talks about extra practices, but we practiced in Spring Ball, summer workouts and for 13-14 weeks this season. We have injuries.
Are we going to gain that much from extra practices in the era of the portal?
If the players want to play, then I support it. Life is too short and you only get X amount of times to suit up.
Plus, another game of game management experience for our head coach has to be worth something.
What's the down side to playing this game? Probably the biggest one is someone balls out on TV and gets noticed. I'll take the extra reps and experience for the seniors at that risk.
Five years ago, you would use it as developmental time for your returning players to build for the next season. Now, is there enough consistency among the roster to get the same benefit?

Is it as valuable? Likely not, but there is some value above not having them.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:10 pmI’m not against playing the game. Re: Birmingham Bowl
Excited that we get more football!! In a related thought, schools that opt out should be ineligible the following season.
