For similar score lines check out the Big 12.EastHallApp wrote:That's college football in general. You had it backwards. They're going back to FCS because the Sunbelt voted them out. They had nowhere else to go and rather than going independent for a year or two and wait to see if something would open up for them, their idiot president is going against everyone else's wishes and taking the program back down to FCS.

Re: Tater Bowl
Well, in the case of this game, the field condition unfortunately had a lot to do with the high score for both teams. Lots of big plays because defenders were slipping and falling all over the place and when they weren't falling, they were surely moving a little more carefully to avoid falling. Kind of hard to play defense that way.boonetown1 wrote:So, I always see these high scores in G5 football and I think, man some of our peers are good. That field was a disgrace, by the way, I only watched the second half but I saw one needless injury after another.

Holgerson looked around the Big 12 a couple of years ago and came to the conclusion that the best way WV could be good consistently was to PLAY DEFENSE AND RUN THE BALL - actually their philosophy is similar to ours however they run as their base a 3-3-5 (a defensive look we use also)

I can't blame their president because scheduling is a nightmare as an independent especially mid and late in the season. I blame the idiots in the SunBelt.AppinATL wrote:tjpappy wrote:Thought it was their call to leave because they are going back to FCS.NewApp wrote:And we're kicking them out of the conference. You should have seen Idaho's presentation or pitch to stay as a full member before calling the Sun Belt idiots. Their president was looking for a way back to FCS all along. Besides, the only avenue for them was full membership and that don't work for our other sports.NewApp wrote:I can't blame their president because scheduling is a nightmare as an independent especially mid and late in the season. How do you know the president wanted to move back down to FCS? I'm not doubting your word, just curious as to what evidence you have in that regard.proasu89 wrote:You should have seen Idaho's presentation or pitch to stay as a full member before calling the Sun Belt idiots. I"m happy for Idaho. Those guys have had a rough couple of years. But the reality is that after this season they're men without a country and going back to the Big Sky will probably make them an instant national powerhouse and perennial contender for a national championship...something they'd never achieve in the FBS.

Re: Tater Bowl
Will they continue to be able to keep the current number of scholarships their first year when they drop back to FCS? Let's say they have one fourth of their 85 scholarship players graduating. That leaves them with approximately 64 on scholarship which is one more than the 63 FCS allows. Would they be able to recruit more high school seniors their first year back or have to skip a year of recruiting?hotrod2001 wrote:I"m happy for Idaho. Those guys have had a rough couple of years. Not sure, I'm assuming that once they graduate some players with scholarships they just won't offer another one.NewApp wrote:Will they continue to be able to keep the current number of scholarships their first year when they drop back to FCS? Re: Tater Bowl
Idaho will get two years to trim their roster down to meet FCS guidelines just like we had two years to get up to 85. Next season will be the first for them to start cutting back so look for a small class signing in Feb. I'm sure they'll have some players transfer out as well this spring/summer.

If so, will the transfers have to sit out a year?JTApps1 wrote:Idaho will get two years to trim their roster down to meet FCS guidelines just like we had two years to get up to 85.
