Whoops! Good catch! Yes, Bourbon St. I lived and Memphis for a long time. Not much better than NOLA, but a little.WVAPPeer wrote:Maybe you were not in New Orleans?Boone Goon wrote:I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans over the years. If I never have to go back it will be too soon! Beale St smells like vomit & urine but you won't notice because you have your hand on your wallet trying to avoid the pick pockets. Leave the women & children behind...it's definitely no place for a family.
I don't want to go to the same place every year, but the Camellia Bowl and Montgomery has been a great experience the last two years.

I personally love NOLA. The food is fantastic, you'll never be a block away from cocktails and there are a lot of great spots outside of said portion of Bourbon st that does reek. Frenchman street, areas near Tulane and along the river are awesome spots. I hear NOLA in December is a lot cooler than in dead of summer.

Seriously, it helps to remember that we are still new to FBS and we are WAY ahead of schedule in our success. I can live with whatever bowl game we get for now.
The Camellia Bowl point is true but exaggerated. We ARE at a geographic disadvantage for NOLA (and, to the extent that anyone from App wants to go there, Mobile). But before you decide that we're going to Montgomery every single year no matter what, remember:
a) We've been there twice. Not 10 years in a row. Twice.
b) Bowl selection orders and conference tie-ins are always subject to change.
As for NOLA, it's not like Bourbon St. is the only thing there. Take your kids to the zoo, enjoy some great food, have a picnic in Jackson Square.
That said, if we do ever get to NOLA, it's probably going to be a guys' weekend for me.

Re: The way to early bowl projections
New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit, so I would be all for that. However I was told by someone in the Athletic Department, that as long as we were bowl eligible we would be traveling to Montgomery.
That said, I would hope a perfect season would at least send us somewhere else! (I can dream, can't I?)

If App finishes the season undefeated, the NY6 G5 slot (is it Peach this year?) would be a possibility. Aside from that, it looks like USF is the golden boy this year.iambhooper wrote:I would hope a perfect season would at least send us somewhere else!
