Interesting adds. Time for us to beef up our schedule beyond UNC and UNCC...
Wisconsin, Wake, Texas A&M, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina - all on future schedules.
Yes, no offense to UCF, but App has typically played strong OOC opponents. I do not recall a time when UCF played a NC contender. To their credit, the AAC is a much more daunting schedule than the SunBelt. I think Doug does a good job of scheduling strong non conference matchups.
Yeah other than the UMass and Akron series (think we got out of the last Akron game) I’ve been very pleased with Gillin’s scheduling. I know it’s hard, but would love if he was able to replicate next years scheduling every year: 1 buy game at a big name P5, a home and home game with a lower level P5, a G5, and an FCS.

Gillin didn't schedule those - Akron was Cobb, UMass was Cobb/Beasley.

Selfish request:

Gillin, if you read this, feel free to book a PAC12 team. Oregon/Oregon State, Washington/Wazzu.

Those of us on the west coast would like to see App every once and a while!!!!

A Home & Home series with SDSU please, in that case.

UCF or Boise State would be great for us and them. Hopefully can work out in the coming years.

Have a family friend in school at Wisconsin. We’ll be there as well!

I've heard we're getting a bit frustrated with finding a taker for our 2024 date. We've contacted all the usual suspects about coming to Boone and all we're hearing is a polite "thanks but no thanks." Can't imagine why.
Lets not go there. That is the Georgia Southern excuse for their premier home opponent to this point in FBS being Houston. They still claim no one wants to play an option team and no one wants to play them at their place. I would like to think Georgia wouldn't have an issue scheduling a neutral site game in Atlanta against a 10-win Southern team so they get their G5 opponent, at a neutral site, and still get the boost in SOS they wouldn't really get otherwise.

You know who these usual suspects are? I’d actually like to see us get a couple of home and homes with the not so usual suspects, preferably in the AAC.
Memphis, Tulane, Houston, UCF, USF, and Cincy would all be good gets. Tulane may not generate the same interest but I think Gillin is intent on raising the profile of the Football program, as evidenced by his hire of Drinkwitz with what I think now was an exclusive mandate to win the P5 games scheduled. Without knowing Gillin personally or having any interaction with him, I have to believe his conversation with Drinkwitz, and some responses he liked, revolved around answering the question of how do we avoid stagnating and continue to elevate the program. In that answer was winning the P5 games you should technically win, like Wake Forest and UNC. How can we do things better? How can we develop talent and our facilities to match what you've seen at places who recruit at a high level like Auburn, Boise State, or NC State?

I'd like to think that there is some collaboration going on in scheduling as well, though I know it's usually the mandate of the AD alone.
