Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
Here’s a good research project. Compare our YC club donations to those of the P5 schools in NC or the total athletic budgets. Then we can use that to advertise!

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
UNC Rams Club donated about $62 million in 2017/18. Iron Dukes claims $37 million in their 2016 brochure. Wolfpack Club claims to bring in $13 million a year in a recent brochure. Deacon Club claims about $7.5 million.
For reference, here are the G5 schools: 49ers Club brought in $2.5 million, and Pirates Club brought in $7mil last year.
FY18, we brought in $3.5 million. I'm wondering what the FY19 numbers are.

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
Had they escaped with a win, maybe, but the optics would be too bad after 34-31.

By the time they come to Boone, Mack probably won't be able to remember his own name, much less the plays they are running. He is aging fast.

My Tarheel fan friends disagree. I’ve been telling them that he is just there for show and the game has passed him by. You can hear it in his pressers, he is just the face and voice for the team, he probably does nothing during the week.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 11:38 pmBy the time they come to Boone, Mack probably won't be able to remember his own name, much less the plays they are running. I doubt it. This season's improvement wasn't luck.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 12:18 amMy Tarheel fan friends disagree. I agree it wasn’t luck! They have always had their pick of recruits. They have had Plenty of talent and continue to have the best athletes. I am perfectly happy for their fans and all you closet cheat fans to continue to think they are great and that their prick of a coach is too! That just makes the victory this year sweeter !!

As someone who enjoys watching UNC lose at all sports, they were much better this year with Mack than the past two with that Red Bull clown.

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
If, when, we beat them in Boone I think that could happen for the 3rd game. They are already paying us for that game but I am sure there is a buy-out for that game for an extra cost.

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
If I'm following correctly these stats are based on years since we made like the Jeffersons. In 1981 during week 7 of the season.....UNC was ranked #3. Has any North Carolina FBS school ever been ranked higher than that in total history?NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 3:35 pmUNC 8th
NCSU 14th

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
Those rankings are since 2014 season. I remember NC State was ranked in the top 10 with Philip Rivers one year, then got smoked at Wake Forest. ECU made the top 10 in 1991. Wake got to #15 in 2006.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 11:09 amIf I'm following correctly these stats are based on years since we made like the Jeffersons. Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
I thought that was as well but that would look awful by them. I mean everyone would make fun of them and call them scared and running from App State. It would be terrible optics on them to do it but so would taking another loss.

Hopefully, just a reload! OL & DL is where I anticipate seeing young guys getting their first starts. Also QB1 & QB2.

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
Oh yes they were way better. Mack is trusting his people more and being more open than in years past. From what I'm told he treated NFL teams awful when he was at Texas his last few years. He had tons of restrictions on them and did not want info leaking out. He hired a guy who used to scout in the NFL to oversee that stuff and he has gotten Mack to lighten up. Mack is doing less than he ever did before. He is overseeing the whole program and making sure things go like they should but he is trusting his people and not the micromanager he was at Texas. They also hired our personnel director who did a fantastic job so I expect UNC to only get better. With that said, I don't think Mack will be there when we play them again. I would think he is there for 3-4 years to get them in right direction and then hand it off to someone.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 6:22 pmAs someone who enjoys watching UNC lose at all sports, they were much better this year with Mack than the past two with that Red Bull clown.

Re: App vs NC in AP Poll
I always assumed that Mack Brown was at UNC as a transitional coach to get things back on track. He will pave the way for his successor and restore credibility to the program....or at least that's the plan. I'm sure he's more than just a figure head, but don't doubt he is delegating more.
I would be really disappointed if UNC or SC try to buy out the return games. I honestly hope our athletic administration calls them out publicly if they try, but I imagine we would have more class than that.
