New Years Day bowl!!

My question is who are we suppose to lose to? They have us at 11-1. For the last 6 years we have been picked to lose to Louisiana, and yes maybe they do finally beat us, but we have always beat them and thus I would think playing in Boone means we would be favored in that game as well.

Due theory, I guess.

If we had lost 7 starters on offense and even 5-6 on defense with all of our top players gone I would expect it. Louisiana has lost its top OL and the best RB in the SBC while they do return their QB. They do return 2 stud RBs and I look at us the same way as them except we return 4 OL starters, unlike them. On defense we both lost about the same. I just don't get why we would be favored to lose at this point. If we struggle this year and can't replace our losses while they show they can I can see why people would pick them but until I see that I just can't justify picking Louisiana, yet.

Scratching my head on that one? I'd swear he was a Mountaineer that was drafted by the Titans.

I meant to say best senior RB in SBC. Calais was really the 2nd best RB on their team, as they have one returning that I expect to get drafted higher than him, but overall he was the best senior RB in the league for sure.

Would be awesome but I’m jaded after the rumors that came out last year of the NO bowl not letting the belt out of the contract. That’s a question I have about bowls, will the sunbelt be allowed out of its bowl obligations or will the belt tie in bowls take teams under .500?

If the conference does not all App. St. out of bowl tie-in for New Years Day Bowl game against a Power 5, we should send in paperwork to withdraw from the conference!?

If NYD bowl, wouldn't the conference get a large payout? Not sure, but, if so,. they would be hurting themselves in a year of financial distress due to a pandemic. Wouldn't be very intelligent...all assuming payout is significant for NYD game

The new order seems to be:
1. ESPN
2. New Orleans bowl
3. ESPN
4. ESPN
5. Lending Tree bowl

For reference, the old order was just New Orleans with the #1 pick and then the rest of the SB bowl placements being done all together based off of trying to find the best geography and match ups among the eligible teams.

ESPN is having greater flexibility with the match ups for some bowls previously limited to specific conference tie ins.

Sounds right. I think the bigger hang-up like you mentioned is that none of the potential upgrade bowls became available.

Just another reference to Outback bowl but from the eyes of LSU journalist. Its nice to see us treated with some respect, "Appalachian State has become a perennial powerhouse in the Sun Belt and the Group of Five". As said many times, more national publicity for App is great for our program. Whether this materializes or something similar, the point is this could be a big opportunity for our program. Of course, all of this hinges on our ability to take care of business during the regular season. We have the table set to run the table this year so we need to make a strong statement again. This could potentially position us for a step up in a conference realignment that may be forced due to the impact of the Pandemic.

If this prediction works that would be great...if not...I personally think a chance to play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte would be pretty sweet too!

Tailgating with mater sandwiches on white bread with Dukes mayo would be just fine with me.

And just imagine all those B1G and PAC-12 fans sitting in their living rooms on New Years Day watching App State football on the big screen, wishing their team was there.

This would be the best chance Louisiana has for finding a school to beat our Mountaineers!
