I think we played fairly decent. You could just really see the difference in talent. Duke obviously has several pro’s on their roster. We can’t hang with a team who puts several 6’9” and bigger dudes on the floor who can easily hit from 3. We had no presence in the paint and struggled all game to get any open look inside the arc. Without any bench we did just run out of gas. The team I saw last night might do ok in Belt play. JF just seems to disappear at times. I kind of wish that we had just taken the ball stronger to the basket more even if it meant contested shots. We don’t seem to do that enough even against teams at our competitive level.

Agree with all the above. When Dook penetrated the lane, we had to help just given superior talent....and that left guys wide open for 3s on their side.
5 was en Fuego in first half. Thought 20 had some opportunities in first half but was tentative. Got to find a way to get 1 going
If we move on offense like we did in first 15 minutes of the game, we can be competitive in Sunbelt. If we do the top screen idea and no real movement like I have seen in some nonconference games, we will be .500 at best in SB. Just my opinion. Good effort and never gave up

I thought James Lewis played his best game this year in the paint, considering the superior talent and size all around him. He was 5–6 from the field, 11 points and 7 rebounds. Duke’s 7 footer in the paint didn’t perform to that level. The problem is that Lewis is our only player that has the size to be a post presence. All of our other big guys are not very strong and prefer to hang out on the perimeter. Apparently that’s what Kerns is going to roll with for his system because he didn’t recruit Lewis amd hasn’t recruited any post players since he’s been here.

I was at the game. We looked really good in the first half and it made for a really fun experience. We were right in the middle of the Krazies. I was pleased to see there were a lot of Mountaineers scattered around Cameron. (lifelong Duke fan so it felt kind of weird going in there with App gear and pulling against Duke lol).

Our deal is we have to play the way we did against Duke in other games vs lesser opponents. We're up and down. We'll play Duke within 5 pts one game, and then another game not show up and get down by a huge margin (like we did vs UNCC for example). If we can find some consistency, we'll be a factor in the SB.

I thought we did exceptionally well considering we were up against the best team money can buy. I would have liked to send coach K out with an L, considering the role hes played in ruining amateur athletics, but sometimes the baddies win, thats life.

There is no doubt that I hate Dook with a passion that is so much that should not be allowed by a human. With that said, K did not ruin amateur athletics for college BB. The NBA did that. All the NBA had to do is eliminate the policies that created the environment of the one and done idea.
The NBA and college bodies should have developed the model similar to baseball..go pro or play for 3 years. In this scenario, a kid has free market opportunity to go pro after high school or make a decision to go to college.
K utilized the system to his advantage to win games for his school.
On a related topic since we are talking K..I hope this year ends like several..a loss in the NCAA tournament before the final four.

I understand completely. I have the same feelings for unc and everything about it. With that said none of their coaches had anything to do with ruining amateur sports either. As you have said the NBA did the damage. I also wish the same for whoever their coach is now. I wish them an early end to their season. Our feelings about the respective teams are as they should be.

This👆! I happen to think Duke has done things right barring what we know. I wish the holes would never win another game ever until the end of time in any sport.

I separate K the man from the coach. From everything I know about him as a person, he is a very decent, thoughtful human. As a coach I deplore him. I tire of his constant griping at officials with language that deserves to have his mouth washed with soap. And, I dislike UNC as much as I do Duke and Coach K.
