Like I said on the belt board, the notion that there is a boycott against playing Liberty is crazy talk, since they are our third most played OOC football opponent since going D1, they are in the NorPac along with our field hockey team, and our other teams have played them multiple times as well.

The SGA and Faculty both voted to end all athletics contracts with Liberty after Dr Falwell Sr's 9/11 comments. The athletics department never made a statement one way or the other, but I believe we quietly stopped playing them for a few years.

I am shocked after all the back and forth with their posters in the Sun Belt thread for months, and
our student senate (or whatever) requesting we never play them in football again years ago because of some Jerry Falwell remarks.
This would be shocking because TB said it would be a CUSA team...
I think TB is still accurate here as this just means we will likely have the CUSA opponent next season be on the road.

Tommy Bowman said we would start a home and home in 2014 with a C-USA team. Never said we would be the home team in 2014. We would likely be on the road in 2014 for that series and home in 2015. This would line up with playing at Old Dominion in 2015 and playing ODU in Boone in 2016.

We will likely still play one FCS game a year to get 6 home games a year. We will also play one money game a year (Michigan). The other two games after 2014 will be alternating home and homes with FBS opponents.
That's fine. But, based on your last paragraph, we're playing 2 FCS teams next season.
Yes next year we will be playing two FCS schools it is a one-year issue. If it happens after next year I will be upset but if it is only next year then there is nothing to worry about. The reason for two FCS home games next year is to get us to 6 total home games. In 2015, one of the C-USA teams will be in Boone and the other will be at ODU.
Thanks for the explanation. With TB saying it was a CUSA team next year, but not specifying it would be away, I was holding out hope that it was home. Oh well, as Veg said, who can complain about another weekend in Boone?
Agreed - and it is better than only having 5 homes games total and 1 OOC home game against Savannah St (Georgia Southern).

Humoring a few zealots on the faculty and in the SGA for a few years does not constitute a boycott.

If you want to see a boycott would imagine you would have one if LU was potentially coming into the SBC.

Everyone knows by now that we do play Liberty next year and start a home and home
with Southern Miss.

I've only ever talked about the silly notion of the university itself refusing to schedule Liberty, which today's news proves to be nonsense. Whatever grandstanding an SGA wants to do is there business.

I'm also guessing that we will continue to play a "money" game at a B1G, ACC, or SEC opponent each season. We also have a stated goal of 6 home games each season. That gives us this for OOC (home games in bold):

2014
-at Michigan
-at CUSA
-Liberty
-Campbell

-at Southern Miss

2015
-at ODU
-at P5 (B1G, ACC, SEC)
-CUSA
-FCS

2016
-at MAC
-at P5
-ODU
-FCS

2017
-at G5 (CUSA, MAC, MWC, AAC)
-at P5
-MAC
-FCS

This seems to be the general template followed by most Sun Belt schools for OOC (1 FCS home, 1 G5 home, 1 G5 away, 1 P5 away)
