On passing downs when the OLB almost always lines up over the tackle it is expected, bringing a ILB or a S or a CB is more "blitz". Either way we were not winning any of these one on one battles last year against far inferior talent. As I stated before if we want to beat Michigan, its big plays in the passing game and turnovers, beating them in the trenches simply wont happen.

I'm in agreement with you on what needs to happen to give us a shot at winning ---

I tend to think Woody was being more conservative last year due to a lack of personnel that fit his system, and the fact that we had as many as 6 freshmen on the field at times. Add to that the injury/suspension to Blair, and the leg injury that Law was dealing with for most of the year.

We also saw a different starting lineup on the Dl for the last 4 games that really seemed to pay off. Once Small and then Fernandez established themselves in the middle we moved Bronson to the end which is a much better fit for him. I think we should start Blair and Bronson at DE and either Small or Fernandez at NT. Then rotate Deuce and Singleton at DE, and have Burns rotate in NT. Dada can come in as a pass rush specialist.

If everyone stays healthy in camp we should start the season with much more depth on the DL.

agree, the defense we saw the last 4 games, was a huge l improvement over the first 8 games, and with a year under their belt to learn Woody's system, I expect the defense to be much better this year, starting with the Michigan game, again, we might not win the game in the trenches, but I don't think we will be dominated and lose the game in the trenches.
