Re: Cobb & Ga. St. AD Job
Athletic Directors are not Supreme Court Justices, so it makes sense CC would one day move along. It just seems like he could have gone anywhere outside our new conference. It would be kind of awkward marching into a new conference and your AD immediately jumps ship to its worst program. Don't get me wrong, I see the upside for CC; it's just bad timing. If it's true, time for the new boss to earn her paycheck.

I would suspect that it's not unusual for AD's to shop around.AppGrad78 wrote:Cobb had been shopping his resume long before Peacock announced his retir ... whatever it is he's doing.

Re: Cobb & Ga. St. AD Job
Is it safe to say that Dr. Everts is not part of the "Good ol' Boys" network? With that said, Peacock had been a professor at App State for 20 years when he was hired as chancellor. It's about the person more than where they came from.APPARJ wrote:I hope your "feeling" translates into "hiring someone not currently or previously affiliated with App State". I love App State as much as anyone but in my opinion getting leadership from the outside (someone not in the "Good ol' Boys" network) is what we need if Cobb leaves.firemoose wrote:He or Beasley would be appointed interim most likely but I have......let's just call it a feeling for now....that we would be looking outside of the top of the current Department hierarchy should Cobb get the job. Interesting times.APPARJ wrote:Yes! That's what we need! More inbreeding!IGgreer wrote:Let the Doug Justice era begin!
I'm not a conspiracy theorist or Cobb hater by making a "Good ol' Boys" network claim. It happens everywhere.
I agree with you in the sense that I'd like to see us look outside, but that's only to ensure that we hire the best possible person we can get.

Just think of the opportunity this presents for you should CC take the job. You'll be able to get a new avatar--a little change can be a good thing. Additionally, you'll get to refocus your disdain for CC onto someone new. Oh, the possibilities are endless for you IG!IGgreer wrote:Best news about this is Cobb will not be making the hire.

Maybe a little change would do us some good? Cobb has been on the job for 10+ years now, and I would imagine he has done about all he can do here. It's hard for anyone to remain as productive in the same position at the same place for that length of time.

I hear IG, as part of CC's inner team, would be moving with him ---ASUMountaineer wrote:Just think of the opportunity this presents for you should CC take the job. Re: Cobb & Ga. St. AD Job
I feel pretty much the same. I think Cobb has done a good job while here. After ten years, it may be a good thing to get some new blood in with fresh ideas. I appreciate what he's done for us and wish him well if he goes.JTApps1 wrote:Maybe a little change would do us some good? I'll try my best to keep up with Cobb's failings at GSU, but my priority will be staying here and keeping you clowns in line.

Welp....T-Dog wrote:Rick Beasley would not be the interim AD. No way. I like him but his current post is more like an honorary position and he probably wouldn't want to do it anyway. It would have to be Doug Justice.
