Just so some of you with short memories or who never read entire threads or are relatively new to this board, I will state my personal policy - I think it is inappropriate to call out individual players for perceived poor play on the field - UNLESS you can document positively that said individual was the only one who made a mistake - ex. - blown pass coverage --- Do you know what coverage was called for that play? - do you know and understand each players responsibility on that play? - do you know what variables/changes were to be considered? on and on --- I was sick the last 2 years of the personal beating some of you put on Patrick Blalock and he hasn't been the only one. You have these young men who work their asses off 12 months a year and we have yahoos on here who have never played a game in their lives calling them names and saying they suck.
My personal feelings don't cover uncalled for penalties, like taunting, unsportsmanlike conduct, showboating.
If some don't like my stance, then ignore - I won't change !!! :o

In the particular case of this thread I actually looked at our list of seniors and considering what they have done in their careers, I didn't see anyone who "failed to live up to expectations" - None were 3 star guys coming in, none were targeted as the next - fill-in-the-blank - I don't remember anyone saying early on that any of these guys were sure fire All-American caliber - even All-Conf for that matter --- I certainly could have missed someone ---

again, its your opinion, and I respect it, but, in my opinion, we do have some players who just, for whatever reason, injuries, coaching staff in flux (putting it nicely), haven't really showed significant improvement from their freshman years, now, I'm I happy they are on the team? You dam straight, we have some seniors who are high character people, they have never bitched, moaned, or quit when the going was tough, they have been great leaders for the team, and great embassadors for the University, and they are actually some of my favorite players of all time, not because of what they have done on the field, but because of how they have acted off the field, but lets be honest, there are some players whom I just kept, watching, and waiting to grow into their positions, and I just have not seen it. You are free to disagree, but its how I feel.

I took it as a rhetorical question, in the line of "do you really think there are veterans that didn't live up to expectations".

Couldn't agree more WVAPPeer, and have posted similarly numerous times before. The only times I have EVER criticized an App player were those times one of our own acted in an unsportsmanlike manner. I plan to stay that way.

I agree with attacking players, but fans can and do discuss mistakes made as well as great plays made What do you think fan is short for?

Anyone that questions the appreciation most posters here have for OUR student athletes and what they do on and off the field doesn't understand our position. If your skin is too thin to read Monday morning comments the ignore button works both ways and sports message boards may not be where you should look for your sports information.

I hear it when I screw up and it happens. I use that to get better.

When did the world become so soft that constructive criticism is such an evil thing.

It is a sports message board, people will discuss mistakes by coaches and players, don't come here expecting roses and puppy dogs.

Do you hear it from dozens of members on a message board which gets tens of thousand of views, not to mention other co-workers, family members, et. al?

Personally, I don't think constructive criticism by those who know what they are talking about bothers anyone either on here or viewing this board, but as WVAppeer is alluding, some if not many posters on here quite frequently cross way over the line.

Get off your soap box and come down to reality. This is a message board and coaches, players, and decisions made on Saturdays will be discussed on Monday.

You aren't going to change that no matter how much grand standing you do.

Saint - you might be misinterpreting my stance - there's a HUGE difference between "discussions" and attacking individual players ---
