Portal time 25-26

Will be able to play if they want to. I hope Manuel and Porter play. I would be of the opinion that if anyone did play, it would show a willingness to be open to a return.

This is a new era. I think someone said like NFL free agency, they have to declare. DLo said his job is to re-recruit the ones we want to keep every cycle. New world. This game is about them having fun so let them play. They are still on the team. They all worked hard throughout the season.

I have to wonder about some of these guys that never played jumping in the portal, especially the young guys. Pretty disheartening to see some of these guys not willing to earn their stripes, or willing to put in the work required to climb the depth chart. I get this is the new world, but most of these guys have ZERO film other than some grainy practice film.

Unfortunately, I feel a lot of these guys will disappear into the portal, never to be seen again.

Probably a culmination of guys testing the waters, guys not good enough for college ball, and us just not hearing much about D2, FCS guys when they leave.

DLo is better than me. Call me petty but I'm of the mind that if you're not going to be here next semester, I'll run with who is going to be a Mountaineer come spring ball. Those entering the portal can enjoy an early start to their holiday season.

I do feel like, more times than not, some of our 'higher recruits' lately, have hit the transfer portal just to take a step or 2 down. I know there's some of this at every school, but could some of this also be attributed to poor player evaluation in the recent past on our part?
I'm just speculating, no opinion 1 way or the other.

And what does it say that this is the 2nd large crop leaving. We had about the same amount of purging occur after spring ball who mostly went to the lower ranks. Over half of the scholarship players were deemed not suitable. Getting better at recruiting was a necessity, not just a talking point.

Thomas Davis and 2 others were kicked off 2 months ago. Wouldn't count them as portal but I'm sure they'll show on the page.
