Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that La could actually lose their last 3 games, go 8-4, still play in the CCG, theoretically win it and go to New Orleans. App can go 10-2, win the CCG and also go to New Orleans. Coastal will probably go 11-1 and end up at the Cure Bowl or another lower tier game probably ranked about 20th. More than likely La wins out, goes 11-1 is also ranked before we beat them and ends up in Mobile or somewhere like that.

The top 3 Belt teams go 11-2 (App), Coastal 11-1 and La 11-2 and we are “rewarded “ with 3 sorry bowls all played prior to Christmas? Hmm

The New Orleans bowl now has the 2nd choice of Sun Belt teams and ESPN gets first choice for one of their bowl-owned games. There's no longer a "Champion" assigned bowl tie-in for New Orleans I don't believe.

I know the Belk Bowl in Charlotte is between ACC and either SEC or Big 10. But wouldnt it be great if we were able to play NCSU, UNC or WF? I think our showing against ECU shows with an ACC opponent we could sell the stadium out. That is, if uncheat gets bowl eligible.

I think the Cure bowl is our best chance to avoid a MAC or CUSA team. I think we are going to have 4 bowl eligible from the sunbelt. The Troy win over South Alabama probably dropped one Sunbelt team from Bowl eligible. At least I hope South Alabama does not get a win at App.

Camelia Bowl is supposed to be SBC vs MAC. Maybe that doesn't matter anymore. MAC has 2 teams that are bowl eligible now. Should have a couple more. I hope we don't go to Camelia. Christmas Day is a horrible day for a bowl game.

Gotta go with 93 on this one...the SBC champ is not automatically tied to the NOLA Bowl.

Frankly, regardless of who wins the SBC, that bowl committee would always prefer to host at least one Louisiana-based team. App travels well but a team from the bayou guarantees WAY more butts in seats.

For my part, I had to visit the Big Easy on business back in July. It was a clear reminder of how I'm not really a fan of crime, despair and misery. So ULL can have the NOLA Bowl if they want it.

You can throw in all the Alabama-based bowls as well. Besides, would it kill these bowl committees to invite us to a game where we actually get to play a competitive team?

Do you care about the opponent as long as you can go have fun and the date is good? I sometimes think we put WAY too much stock in this one game. Every year someone brings up the mysterious back room ESPN stuff that never happens.

Exactly. We as fans want to play a good team in the Belk Bowl or another higher tier game but how fun could it be for a team to spend a few days in Charlotte? I would think they would prefer a nice trip to Florida. If we win out and go 11-2 with another CCG victory it’s just insulting to saddle us with a 4 loss CUSA dog in Birmingham.

As a resident of Dallas TX I assure the Frisco or First Responder Bowls in the Dallas Metroplex would be great experiences for us.

Yes most fans would have to fly to the game but flying to Dallas (DFW or Love) is so much more affordable and enjoyable than the rest of our options. And the surrounding areas of the stadiums offer so much to do, see and eat.

As I understand it, there are two types of bowls. ESPN controlled and non ESPN controlled. The New Orleans Bowl is not controlled by ESPN. So they get to pick the first SBC team to slot to fill one of their bowls. They control the Cure and Camilla Bowl and others. So they tell the conference they want team A, most likely App if they win the conference) or Coastal. Then NOB gets Louisiana and then ESPN takes the other one.

Always a lot of confusion around bowl options. Can't blame many on that because it changes every year and really, there's no good reason to know that stuff off the top of your head (for most fans any ways). So I'll throw this out there;

Marshall in ANY bowl game. Yes we played and beat them already. But hear me out, they will soon be a conference member and we may never get the chance again. A long history, a renewed rivalry, and the fact that both fanbases will show up (unless it's the one on Christmas day...). I'll just say right now, I'd do everything possible to be at that one!
