When he caught the ball, he was dangerous, but when he didn’t, he ended drives

Yup. Drink did it but he had a stacked roster.bcoach wrote: ↑Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:12 pmReally no different than all season. We didn't have a full time HC and we didn't have a full time OC. Hopefully next year we will have full time people in both of those positions. Then I hope he becomes the second best HC we ever had, and we win the confrence and a good bowl. But it only has a chance if we have full time in both positions.

Great player for us.
He was nice enough to go out of his way to take a picture with our crew after the UNCC W, so I’ll hold that memory for awhile about him.
Not sure if his size lends to the p4 jump but he can play ball.

Re: Portal time 25-26
Interesting comments from another father of a player. And some more comments from an ex player/alumni I believe who seems to be in the know.
That’s 2 outspoken parents as of late. Hmmm

Re: Portal time 25-26
Shoot, I’d love 1 1200 yard receiver…but 3!!! That seems impossible. Have we ever had a 1200 yard WR?

Re: Portal time 25-26
I feel like some of this may get lost in translation. “If you come here I can turn you into Xavier Legette” is different than promising every receiver 1,200 yards but the player may not see it that way.

Well, doesn’t seem like Dozier is returning. Cross that one off.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:22 pmI feel like some of this may get lost in translation. “If you come here I can turn you into Xavier Legette” is different than promising every receiver 1,200 yards but the player may not see it that way.
Losing Stroman Dozier Barnes. That’s a lot of replacing to do.

Money is the #1 cause of ruining youth and amateur sports, but parents are a close second.

Re: Portal time 25-26
Yeah but not impossible. I feel like the TP actually decreases value of undersized slot players as a lot of them fall down to fcs/d2 and you can just pick off the better performing ones (which we did with Barnes)311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:23 pmWell, doesn’t seem like Dozier is returning. Dozier was good but never “wowed” imo (could be qb related) Stroman was worth 1 circus catch and 1 drop a game.
Promise 3 more guys 1200 yard seasons and they can be replaced. Hell promise them 1500 yard seasons who cares? It’s not like they are sticking around if that happens

Re: Portal time 25-26
Surprised Dozier and Barnes didn't drop their paperwork when trying to enter the portal. I appreciate Stroman giving his all for Appalachian, a constant in the WR room in an era of change... did have a few too many drops himself as well..311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:23 pmWell, doesn’t seem like Dozier is returning. Dozier's drop against Coastal might be an all time terrible drop that single handedly lost us that game. The reason we don't make a bowl game. Then we get a late addition to a bowl game and he opts out. Let's stop recruiting P4 rejects that could care less about suiting up for the black and gold

Re: Portal time 25-26
Stroman’s lack of focus at times could at least be explained by things that I feel most now are aware of. Dozier had the physical attributes but I don’t know if he has the drive. Mbake seems to have both and I’m excited about him next year. He has adapted to the slot well and has already absorbed some nasty hits to the legs in a few games.

Re: Portal time 25-26
A parent/recruit would have to be pretty gullible to accept on faith a sales pitch any college football coach has to offer. That’s on them if they thought App would have three 1,200-yard receivers with a couple of 1,000-yard ball carriers.

Re: Portal time 25-26
Its not going to matter how many yards he promises offensive athletes until he promises an all you can eat hog bar with extra protein shakes to a full line of bulls. If we are going to compete, dropping all this NIL money on offensive athletes will be pretty meaningless if they staring at the turf after 2 yards. Bring on the Beef.

So far.
