Only words I can come up with; program is lost….. no words to describe what app has accomplished compared to these last 3 seasons. Recruiting, please don’t let the winning tradition die. 🙏 🙏 🙏

This fan base is actually insufferable at times. Figure out what the **** you want. We fired a coach in December, which was the right decision. But with that decision, comes inevitable rebuilding. We have 60 new players and lost what top end talent we did have to the portal. We do not have the depth or talent to compete with Boise State right now. Thats just the cold hard truth. This team was patched together in January and I’m not giving up on anyone just yet.
Most of the folks posting on this thread right now are the least knowledgeable, loudest, and most miserable members of the “fan” base. Evidently, none of these folks remember Satterfield’s first two seasons.
Don't use too broad of a brush. Some of us actually understand the game quite well and haven't forgotten the for sale signs in Satts yard.
You’re right, but I was specifically referring to folks posting “right now.” The ones who only show up when App loses and immediately call for cleaning house, think the sky is falling, etc.

There are plenty of level headed, intelligent people on this board. They just don’t post much on the Gameday threads.

Dude will be in the power 4 next year but god forbid we use him
Hard to throw to him or anyone while we weren't able to pass block.

There is enough evidence in the last 2 games to suggest that our QB may be telegraphing were he's going to throw?

The transitive arguments get insane here. It’s irrelevant saying team A beat team B who beat team C who also was bad 8 years ago but beat team B 5 years ago…

When we were really good in the FCS championship years I really felt like our program was close to a solid BCS (or whatever the term was for the next level). I wasn’t delusional to think we were SEC or even ACC good but we proved the transition to a lesser version of the next level wasn’t difficult. There was still a decided difference between the old Belt and a power conference.

I asked earlier what some believe is the new gap between teams and conferences. I really almost compare college football to professional baseball. There are dominant major league level CFP programs who have payrolls and facilities much larger than “peers” who are decidedly smaller. Then the drop off to the next level is obvious. I don’t know what we are now but Boise is probably Triple A and we are lower double A.

we have problems in every phase of the game. I’m curious what teams with more than 50 new faces are doing well….

^^^ here’s an article from preseason about every FBS team with a new head coach. The only teams that are playing well so far are teams in which the former head coach left for a bigger/better job and the new guy didn’t have to rebuild. First year head coaches taking over from someone who was fired almost NEVER see success in season 1.

Anybody see how much Miss State gave Joey A and Tennessee fits yesterday? Go look at MSU’s record last year.

Most folks on here and most other message boards have a rudimentary understanding of football. What none of us have or at least the vast majority is an understanding of the play called and the responsibility of each position player in the play to make it work effectively. The frustration, while understandable, lacks the basic knowledge of what was supposed to happen.

I don't know what our NIL budget is because it isn't disclosed from what is read, but I looked up Boise and theirs is $1.1M and their are comments saying that isn't enough.

I'd call us single A and Boise AA and a Tennesse AAA in an analogy.

Based on last night we were out Jimmy'd and Joe'd, maybe the difference in who can buy who

Depending on how next week goes, I believe we can still go 8-4. That is more of a testament of how weak the Sun Belt is this year. 5 home games left on the schedule too.

Fair. Emotion does get the best of some some folks immediately following or during the games.

James Madison, maybe ODU and Boise are on the same level of play from what I've watched this year, everyone else not playing very well

We will have to reverse the trend of our turnover average, no one can spot another team 14 or more points turning the ball over and expect a win. Our trend is horrific, never seen one of our teams do so poorly having interceptions, turnovers-fumbles, or just plain not taking care of the ball crossing the goal line.

I’ll add one other observation. After a bad team plays poorly to include numerous stupid penalties and horrible turnovers and terrible execution the coach invariably says we will work on cleaning that stuff up. I have found that rarely does that happen. Bad teams usually do the same stuff repeatedly and are simply bad. I’m not asking this to be derogatory but the comments alluding to our “talent” seem a bit baseless. Where is the talent? Our offensive line is terrible so unless the talent is standing on the sidelines I’m not seeing it. We only have a few defensive linemen who get any real pressure. Our defensive backs give up wide open passes and yet another season of allowing third and 10 plays is there as well. Where is that level of talent? I was a bit excited (tempered) when I saw we had brought in a big back from Tennessee. Has he played? We do appear to have some receiver skill but when you can’t run a route in time due to a collapsed pocket that skill and talent is pointless.

Geez. Are you actually this dense or just arguing? The conversation had nothing to do with budget but okay.

In this moment of time, September 2025, Boise State is a much better football team than we are. That doesn’t mean we cannot compete with them or should run away from the challenge. We competed with them for 3 quarters and got our ass kicked in the final 20 minutes. I don’t see the controversy here.

In September 2022, Texas A&M was not a good football team. We competed and beat them. However, we too were also not a good football team in 2022 but we were better that day.

Calling a team a great team is not calling our team trash. It’s calling them a great team.
This is a weird take. We beat A&M and they aren’t good. We get housed by a Boise team that got housed by south Florida and we are suppose to pat ourselves on the back because they didn’t score 60. Like what!
It’s really not but it takes a reasonable level of intelligence and football knowledge. How is it weird to call a 5-7 team not good?

Boise State is a better team than A&M in 2022. That isn’t a weird take.

I’m also not patting ourselves on the back? We weren’t good enough tonight, but that doesn’t mean we are a terrible team yet. Are we that far beyond decency, common sense and intelligence that we can’t have reasonable takes anymore?
Again no one was expecting a win but to get beat by 40 by this Boise team is unacceptable. We didn’t lose lines this to sec schools when we were FCs. You are arguing to argue which is typical for this board.
But we did…
2014: L to Michigan 52-14
2013: L to UGA 45-6
2011: L to VT 66-13
2010: L to UF 48-10

I am not arguing to argue. I am arguing to hopefully have reasonable discussions on football performance. I’ve not called it acceptable one time. I’m just trying my best to explain it, other than calling for firings and degrading the players or staff. I can’t help it if people struggle with facts or having reasonable discussions.

Our program historically has been built blue collar. We have grabbed talent the big programs overlooked, developed them over the years by strength and fundamentals. It depended on longevity of players and coaching staff. At the moment the culture of college football is not conducive to the way our program has been successful. There are few players in division one who care to stay put if they are talented and believe they can be in a bigger program, and now they get paid to give it a shot. The players we do get are also travelers with no loyalty and do not know the culture of our program. We have new coaching staff and the ability to build the program takes time. The result is a team with a few players who have talent but no depth and fundamentals are missing. We don't tackle well and the offense is far away from the run hard and block well program we have had.

We actually tried to give them the ball two more times and just sort of got lucky with the calls.

1. On the Stroman “forward progress” non fumble that I think probably was a fumble (they ran it back for six we just got lucky).

2. That god awful false start we had in the red zone, where we also fumbled the snap. Play was called dead but we put the ball on the ground in the red zone…again.

In our glory days we had our share of players that made it or had chances in the League, talent matters, how many do we have now that has these same chance to play at the next level

We aren’t a good football team. It’s that simple. Will we improve throughout the season? Hopefully.
From what I've observed thus far we're a very bad team, hopefully we'll see improvement starting next week. Thus far I've seen no improvement at all, as a matter of fact we regress more each week if that's possible.
