He would have to sit out a year, has 2 years left and I personally wasn't that impressed with his accuracy when throwing the ball. He is a very good athlete and could make an impact if his accuracy was to improve. He wasn't the best fit for Johnson's offense.JonW wrote:Any chance we're looking into Vad Lee from GaTech? He recently announced he is transferring as he does not want to run the triple-O. I know we are building depth at QB and should have a good race this spring/fall, but Lee could come in and take over from day one.

Except that he'd have to sit out a year, which would mean losing a year of eligibility because he's already redshirted. Don't think that would make sense for App or Lee. Sounds like he's mostly looking at FCS schools.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Ah that's right, he no longer would be eligible to play right away! I forgot that applies even in our "transition" year. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Based on reports I've added WR Cortez Lewis (6′ 2″ 200) of Demopolis High School in Demopolis, AL and ATH/QB Tymashian Clemons (5' 11" 165) of McEachern High School in Power Springs, GA to the Reported Offers list and placed a player page for each with video.
Lewis is a ESPN 3 star and Rivals and 24/7 2 star WR who is a Wake Forest commit but has received an offer from App and is considered a soft commit with the coaching change there. He is showing additional reported offers from Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Alabama St, Arkansas St, Citadel, Furman, Ga Sou, MTSU, USA, Southern Miss, WKU, and WMU.
Clemons is a Rivals 2 star and 24/7 3 star ATH who is a Ga Southern commit. He is showing additional reported offers from Buffalo, UK, Louisville, UMass, Miami(OH), MTSU, Syracuse, and Troy.
It's interesting because I posted earlier today in reference to the Ga Sou commits. Before doing that I checked on all of them and none were showing an offer from App. It must have happened in the last couple of days and was just reported to the sites because I checked all 4 main ones. I also looked in on the Wake commits and Lewis was the same way. We'll see what other offers go out.

Looks like Matt eaton got an offer from Arkansas state. Then he tweeted out to a fellow Arkansas state recruit "looks like we goin to school together". I guess we may be searching for another big WR.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I saw both the offer tweet and the other. Interesting that he's not mentioned Ark St in the schools that he was upset he wasn't getting an offer from. I'm going to watch for a day or two to see how much more he says. He's said the same thing to commits from us and ULM so far. But the coaches have been looking for another tall WR for a while now. Expect a couple more offers to go out soon.boonetown1 wrote:Looks like Matt eaton got an offer from Arkansas state. I think Arkansas state will be one team in the sunbelt we will need to out recruit moving forward. Maybe their carousel of coaches will help.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I keep reminding everyone but it's worth noting we lost 23,000+ views on the original recruiting thread when it disappeared. I don't remember the exact figure but it was around 23,400. I also lost 176 posts from the thread. So we're really at nearly 75 K views. We've got a month left and it should get interesting and crazy between now and then so we'll see how far we make it by signing day.JCline0429 wrote:Right at 50 G views in this thread.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I have moved ATH Walden Davis (5′ 11″ 185) of Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, GA from the "Considering" section to the "Reported Offers" section even though he doesn't currently hold an offer. He is taking a visit to App the weekend of the 24th. I've had him as a RB/WR but he also plays FS and that is apparently what we are looking at him for. If everything else is in order we could see an offer extended before or during the visit.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
App target WR Shaedon Meadors (6′ 2″ 180) of James Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC picked up an offer from Temple today.
I haven't been posting when our targets or commits get offers because this thread would be 100 pages long by now but we're getting down to it and as signing day comes closer I'll be posting when any of our commits or our top targets pick up additional offers. As crazy as this is getting I think only the coaches will be happier when Feb. 5th gets here than I will (plus Mike, John, and Brian at their sites).

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I don't follow this too closely but my understanding is this is a dead period so I'm guessing it has to be someone already signed. Not sure about that though.AppFan11 wrote:C'mon Moose whose the commit????

Sloan's tweet doesn't actually say it's a new commit, unless he only uses that hashtag to mean we got a new one.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Not a new commit. He's was talking to Kiante Walton. Glad to know he's firm but sorry if things got exciting.
I'm having internet problems again tonight, tv problems also (can't get the BCS game except a breaking out picture). Guessing it's the cold. Trying to keep up but it's a bit hard tonight. I'll do my best for everybody.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Sorry everybody but, as I said, my internet has been going in and out all evening. I missed most of the game tonight also so frustration is the word of the night.
I took a bit to confirm but I've been able to now so I can say that LB LeGrande Harley (6' 1" 230) of Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA has indeed committed to USF. To be honest it's not much of a surprise as he's been playing around with this all along. I'm going to assume it's a hard commit but with everything that has happened who knows. I know some people are not going to be happy with me saying this but I'm not all that upset after the games that have gone on in the past couple of months. Would he have helped us right away? Yes he would. But I've not been all that impressed with some other things about this. We've got a good group of ILB's and we're adding Vinson this season. We'll be young but we will be fine. We can also use the spot that has been saved for him for another player. At least we've got a month to find where we want to use it, unlike a WR spot that looks like it will come down to around the 31st before we know anything.
The final push will start in full by the end of the week and I expect to see some more offers go out. Once the visits start we'll see which areas we're really making a priority for this last month.

Still more awards for performance on the field and in classroom for Sam Blue of Millbrook. He was named Scholar Athlete of Week from Raleigh N&O paper. 4.2 GPA, AP courses with college credit, captain of 3 different team sports at Millbrook that have all gone to NC state playoffs in each sport. (Football, basketball and track). NC High School All Time Sack leader with 19 sac and 5 where returned for TD's. Rave recommendations from his AD and Coaches about being the complete student athlete a leader in classroom and on the field. 6'1" 225lbs with a frame that can put 20-25 more lbs. He played DL at Millbrook because they needed him there to win but will transition to LB in college.
Yet, we sit there and watch others offer him and he would go to ASU if offered and willing to redshirt and pay his dues. I sometimes think if this kid had same stats from SC or Ga. we would be all over him and bragging we stole one from those two states. Not every kid we recruit will start and many will not workout and can become a problem on the bench or in the public eye. This is not one of those kids. He will earn his way on the field and will make you proud of what he does in the public, classroom and playing football. Plus, he is a NC kid from the Raleigh area and could lead to other great kids and athletes down here.
While other LB's with offers seem to be jacking us around, the school should offer him now. We will be a better program for having him and his family at Boone.
