Every one of Rubinos kicks are drastically right . I see this hope someone else does. I find myself closing my eyes every kick

Congrats on the win! Would've watched, but we were busy getting a giant monkey off our backs! Lamb was impressive today.

Good win. A little hairy there at the end but still got the W. One CUSA win, one MAC win. Now onto the games that actually "matter" and Black Saturday!

Nostradamus you are not!bigdaddyg wrote:I think our defense and our corners are better than we think. Played great at UT and didn't break against ODU. I among many who think Miami might just be legit. They have the team to go top 10. No crime getting lit up by a top 10. There was no room for error against that team and we made too many errors.

Good job scrolling to find something. I predict that you won't always be perfect.App91 wrote:Nostradamus you are not!bigdaddyg wrote:I think our defense and our corners are better than we think. We won and beat a team, on the road that destroyed Marshall. Akron was pretty good passing the ball- quick hitters were on the money. Glad I could watch it. Announcers were actually pretty knowledgeable. Back when a bunch of us tried to predict our record after 4 games most said 2-2. We have some beasts at running back our receivers did well.

Re: Akron 9/24 @3:30
PLEASE, PLEASE keep in mind that our 4 games have included 2 top 15 teams who each had a different type of offense - I'm with you guys who feel our defense will be fine - our DBs have been greatly tested and for the most part they have been successful - Miami has a 1st round NFL QB and NFL WRs and TEs - Akron has a strong passing attack and they will beat some teams this season (their defense has problems) - I just posted this in another thread but think it is appropriate here ---
Have you considered this is exactly how Coach Woody wants to play the "bubble screen"? - In my opinion, our guys played it well against Miami as well as yesterday - It sets up a 2 on 2 and if the WR gets a block, it's a 1 on 1 - When you hold you opponent to 6,7 yards in that wide-open scenario the Defense has done a very good job - It is clear our philosophy with pass-first teams is to make them work their way down the field - not to give up a quick strike - All you have to do is to look at our quick TD to Duffield - We threw a quick pass "bubble screen" for a gain - lined up to do it again, the Akron D moved closer to the line, one DB tried to jump what he thought was coming and there goes Duffield wide open for a long TD ---

Re: Akron 9/24 @3:30
we've had a strong return game so far this year with Capel, but Evans may have just upped it a notch. i could see Capel only returning punts now and Evans taking the kickoffsYesAppCan wrote:How about our RETURN game yesterday? I was impressed!!

I watched the game again on the DVR. Did anyone else notice that the last sack was caused by a deliberate trip by our defender? Threw his right leg out and hit the QB.

I could not tell, but thought it was his arm. If it was his leg, is that legal on a sack? I know you cannot trip up a running back, but you cannot trip up a quarterback either can you? On the sideline the quarterback appeared to be upset at himself, not the call. At least that is what I thought.

The end zone pass interference call was bogus. We were even on calls!ASU85Grad wrote:I could not tell, but thought it was his arm. If it was his leg, is that legal on a sack? That's generous. I would say Akron was +7 on the calls.bigdaddyg wrote: The end zone pass interference call was bogus. We were even on calls!

Oh absolutely. I was kidding. Amazing that we won by running only 2 plays on offense.CVAPP wrote:That's generous. I would say Akron was +7 on the calls.bigdaddyg wrote: The end zone pass interference call was bogus. We were even on calls!

Re: Akron 9/24 @3:30
I couldn't tell on the PI call, but the one where their WR was given a catch when the ball clearly hit the turf and Mondo was begging for a review was really bad.

Unless there was another Akron receiver other than the one that fell down, that was a poor call on the APP interception in the end zone. Thankfully it only lead to Akron getting 7 points they did not deserve and had no real impact on the outcome of the game.
IMO the officiating at the FBS level has been pretty good and certainly no where near as bad as it was (and probably still is) in FCS.
Re: Akron 9/24 @3:30
Based on that replay of the sack at the end of the game, it looked to me like the QB actually tripped over his own lineman. Our DB appeared to stick his leg out, but the QB dodged that and Akron's own OL tripped him.
So, I don't see a penalty, unless the refs can throw a flag based, not on an action, but on intentions. Hmmm, don't get me started on intentions.
