Can't swear to it but was told by someone down there who should know. It was always Beamers job to say no to. Nobody else had a chance unless he did.

This. They went through the motions because they had to.

Folks here went ballistic when Drink left after a year even though most suspected he would be here a short time. Some were disappointed when Scott left for Louisville. Why should anyone be surprised the folks there are upset.

It's not that what he said was not true, it's the context in which he said those words. His seeking new employment two years in after his talk of how his team was family, came off hypocritical to some. The fact that they are 3-7 only heightens the frustration. After Petrino, they thought they found someone who
would bring stability to the program. That's one reason many applauded hiring Shawn here.

I know because Satt is one of us there's a desire to support him but, you have to put yourself in their position as well. He'll survive this if they turn things around next season. A good start would be beating Wake this weekend.

I’ll only make one counterpoint. Clark has been here one year and has yet to beat a good team. I support him but he hasnt done anything that would warrant another school calling him. So we don’t know how loyal he is yet to be fair. Satt was a great ambassador to this university. First as a player then as a coach who transitioned us to where we are. He went for another job. Once at that job, we have no business telling him how long he should stay there. Louisville has a history of cheating. In many of their sports. I’d argue they are one of the more corrupt universities based on their track record. Perhaps Satt isn’t wild about that culture. That point should not be overlooked. If I was at a job that was less than ethical I’d have issue with outside people telling me to suck it up and continue. It’s all speculation, but he’s never been in the Drink category. He proved his loyalty to us by leaving then coming back, so I’ll gladly be a homer and give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Frankly I’m a little surprised at the poor Louisville tone. Obviously things are going on over there that SATT isn’t comfortable with

The only issue with your argument is you not mentioning that Scott choose Louisville. I had no problem with Scott leaving and he owes us nothing. But to say that Louisville is corrupt (they are) and that Scott may not enjoy how they do things there is a bit short sighted. The issues are not a state secret and are not new, Scott knew what he was getting into.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at the financial opportunity and think you can change the culture of a place and give it a go. Respectfully thats not shortsighted. He’s been there 3 years now. If he was there for one year and was making these comments I would concur. But after three years he may see that it isn’t a good fit. How long does he have to stay there before social media says it’s ok for him to look elsewhere if given the opportunity?

First; if and when Scott wants to leave UL it won't bother me a bit, because he has to make the best decisions for his career and his family. Second; This is year two for Scott not Three. Third; the problems at UL visibly permeate the entire athletic department, if he really believed he alone could go in there and change that culture he is a fool, and I don't believe he is a fool. Whether he didn't care about that or thought he could operate success in such an environment is another story altogether.

Again I listened to the whole press conference, and outside of one ill advised comment I don't see anything around with anyone he said. At least he addressed it openly and hopefully honestly.

Worst case for Satterfield is he makes $15M at UL and becomes an OC at a high level G5/P5 school and waits for the App job to open up one day. Some could say that's best case too.

The Duke job will probably be open soon. I would have said wake but they managed to hit 4-3 this year so he might be safe for now.

Duke was always the rumor I heard, even before Louisville. Supposedly he and Cutt are fairly tight.

They seem to think it is still the 1990s and they are a good program and relevant in college football. They have only 4 double digit win seasons since 2000 and none since 2007. They have become the definition of a mediocre SEC team, they can win some out of conference games but nearly none in the conference and it has been that way for 13 years now. Sooner or later it just is what it is, Nebraska is in the same boat as is Texas. Yesteryear ain't coming back for those teams until they get the flux capacitor fixed.

All Satt will need to do is HC at G5 in NC, SC, Ga. If these are the nearest geographically to family if that is the primary issue (I do not know if it is or not). He builds a winner there like at App. He then goes to UNC, NC State, USC, Dook, WF, etc. as they come open periodically and gets another big paycheck. Although in theory he can come back to App, however I hope not needed as current HC does well.
