So many discussions on here turn to kindergarten bantering because FBS folks can't let loose of their feelings about the move. Why does a comment about way too many bowls have to be answered by a comment about FCS playoffs? One has nothing to do with the other. Every single time something is said about FBS there has to be a comparison to FCS. I have no doubt that we will not go back to FCS any time soon. You can stop protecting your flank.

Well the 4th post in the thread is where it started and I would assume by a pro-FBSer making a negative comment toward the FCS - I would say it initiated exactly opposite from your point ---

The inherent flaws in the FBS tem have nothing to do with FCS. Anyone who can look at the FBS system and, with a straight face, claim that it is not FUBAR needs serious professional help. One has nothing to do with the other. Nor does pointing out those flaws automatically make one anti-progress, anti-FBS or anti- anything else.

The inherent flaws in the FBS tem have nothing to do with FCS. Anyone who can look at the FBS system and, with a straight face, claim that it is not FUBAR needs serious professional help. One has nothing to do with the other. Nor does pointing out those flaws automatically make one anti-progress, anti-FBS or anti- anything else.

FUBAR is correct. The FBS system is ruled by one thing and one thing only. MONEY. And money will determine what the future holds for everyone in the FBS. Split divisions, realignment to more regional G5 conferences, P5 and G5 playoffs, and any other moves, mergers, etc, by anyone will all be determined by the five letter word that controls everything. Only time will tell what and when.

In the context of an App football discussion, mentioning the perks of FBS Bowling as opposed FCS playoffs is completely reasonable, especially during this time of transition.

Crucify me for looking to the bright side. Geez. I refuse to apologize for not wallowing in misery at the prospect of the highest level of college football. I loved the FCS playoffs. It is all I've known of App State football. I point out the FCS' shortcomings purely as a counter to the relentless bashing of our new subdivision by a select few.

I'm pretty sure that, to a few of you, anything I post is poisoned no matter how reasonable it actually is.

Pointing out the inherent flaws in the FBS is not wallowing in misery, at least not by my definition. I am happy that we are joining the Sun Belt. I am glad we will get the opportunity to play games against teams we have felt we should be playing. I will watch however many games we are fortunate enough to play in a season. I realize that FCS was/is a dying breed. I also realize that the FBS model is broken. It is ruled by the very few who have the most and will continue to be so. The current bowl system is ridiculous. Pointing that out does not make me any less excited, much less miserable. It isn't either/or, it isn't all or nothing. That point seems to elude a lot of people on both sides of this conversation.
