I find it kind of funny yet great that I haven’t read one mention of the fact that with a win Saturday we become bowl eligible. I guess we have arrived. I’ll bet there is a thread for bowl eligibility back a few years ago. LOL

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Interesting note:
In 2016 on Sunday October 9th, Western Michigan at 6-0 moved into the Top 25 at #24.
How did they respond to their new ranking?
They blasted Akron 41-0. Moved up to #20 the following week.
By the time they were 8-0 moving into November, they were ranked #17 and played their next 6 straight games (including the Cotton bowl) on some version of ESPN.
We have quite the opportunity in front of us. I hope the team seizes this.

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
I can honestly say if we went 6-6 I would be highly disappointed. There was a bowl thread for it a few years back but the only goal we can accomplish this week is going 1-0. Just being in a bowl isn't good enough for our guys and should not be to supporters. We want more!

My hope is that we can do what they did that year but sustain a high level for longer. They had a ton of talent on that team. I believe this team could be better than that WMU team but we have a long way to go in the season.ah59396 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 11:29 amInteresting note:

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Scoreboard watching has been simplified the last couple weeks with App not playing on Saturday. I'm sure we'll all be less focused on the other games this week, at least until 7 pm or so.
That said, I'd add these:
#12 Oregon at #25 Washington (UW is ahead of us in the coaches' poll, and I have to think they'd jump us in AP if they win.)
Tulsa at #21 Cincinnati
Tulane at Memphis
#16 Michigan at #7 Penn State

Louisville beating Wake helped promote APP into the top 25. (Replacing Wake)
Louisville beating Clemson may cause Louisville to replace APP in the top 25.

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Not on my list of things to worry about. If Clemp's son is focused they will win by the margin of Dabo's choice. If Scott has his team playing above themselves they will make it respectable but come up short in the end. History tells us that.

They lost Fleck to Minnesota immediately after that 2016 season.

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Teams to cheer for today:
Tulsa
Purdue
South Carolina
Rutgers
Oregon
SMU
Vandy
Baylor
Utah
Kansas
Penn State
BYU
UNC
Why SMU? They play 5-1 Temple. For me a Temple win over their 3rd ranked team would catapult them in front of us and I think Temple is possibly the best AAC team. 2 losses eliminates Temple as a threat. I also have zero confidence that SMU will run the table or win the AAC.
Why Baylor? They play Ok State, 4-2. I think a 5-2 Ok State actually gets ranked and I’m not entirely confident Baylor would be dropped out of the top 25 with a loss. A Baylor win guarantees we only have to worry about them from a ranking perspective.
The rest should be pretty obvious.
A win from either Tulsa or BYU would be by far the most helpful to us. 2 loss Cincinnati is out of the NY6 race and a 1 loss Boise would fall behind us.
Oh, also Clemson. If Louisville upsets Clemson and moves to 5-2 they will absolutely be ranked. Go Tigers.

Agree with all but SC. If they beat two top ten teams in a row they'll be ranked ahead of us.
