Coaches control how those players practice all those things you mentioned. Coaches control play calling, Coaches control the team culture or bonding. Program has zero spirt that it had from 2015-2023ish.Apptiger wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 12:25 pmCoaches call plays and put players in position to succeed. I think the coaches have been doing that. Coaches don't throw interceptions, drop passes, fumble the ball, commit penalties, etc.
Only possible criticism of the coaches is the red zone play calling, we seem to move the ball up and down the field last night and then throw an int. The defense is vastly improved but was still out of position too much last night. On field reads are lacking or the base defense call is bad. Not sure which.
We seem to make stupid plays at bad times. The first interception... the snap was dropped, QB picked it up and threw without even looking. If he runs or eats it, we get three. The score could have been 28-10 at half but it was not, mostly due to us shooting ourselves in the foot.
So Miss discussion

What is your whole point? You were making excuses for team Clark in year 5 so I know you aren't saying we made a huge mistake and calling for Loggains and his staff to be gone already just 3 weeks into year 1, are you?DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 1:28 pmCoaches control how those players practice all those things you mentioned. The prior staff had 5 years and saw the culture, bonding, and accountability, etc after 5 years so we need to give Loggains a fair amount of time. We are 2-1 like reasonable people predicted we would be at this point.

All the examples have zero to do with today’s environment.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 7:31 amThe lack of memory and football knowledge in this thread is impressive.
1. That wasn’t the Southern Miss teams of the past last night. That was quite literally the Marshall team- coach, players, and all- that won the SBC and beat App last year. They are a good team.
2. First year head coaches almost always have a tough first year. When you have to rebuild a program, that’s what happens. Here’s some first year records from some coaches you might know:
Kirby Smart- UGA- 8-4
Nick Saban- Bama- 7-6 (also 8-4 his first year at LSU)
Brian Kelly- Notre Dame- 8-5 first two years
Jim Harbaugh- Stanford- 4-8
Scott Satterfield- App- 7-5
Satterfield struggled mightily at first, and many of yall called for his firing, but he was given some slack and returned App to excellence quickly.
I have no idea if DL is the right guy because you simply can’t make that judgement based on 3 games. Last night sucked, but to say App has completely lost its way, is wandering the wilderness, and will never compete again at the D1 level… well that’s just plain stupid.

Well, I’m not going to go find examples from the last 5 years, even though it would be easy, because you’re still going to blame every negative thing on NIL and transfers because that’s all you come here to do, seemingly.Pikapp79 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 2:00 pmAll the examples have zero to do with today’s environment.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 7:31 amThe lack of memory and football knowledge in this thread is impressive.

I feel the same way. It just isn't the same for me. For me it is never NIL, but always YOSEF.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 1:15 pm100% understandable and that’s why I post wasn’t meant to criticize. I’m fortunate enough to be able to do both trips but realize most can’t. My passion has been drained as well but I’ll still support App without the emotional investment.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 12:49 pmI think a lot of fans chose Boise over USM. And, that decision makes a lot of sense when you look at the history of the programs and the surrounding areas. We had a good turnout on short notice on a further trip to LaLa for the Conference Championship game a few years ago.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 10:16 amThis is not a rant, an attempt to shame anyone or call anyone out so please I hope no one takes this personal. I realize that people have their own lives and stuff going on and disposable discretionary income is different for everyone.
The App ticket office sold 40 tickets for this game through the school. The majority of the folks there were parents and player family, so 40 fans. That’s disappointing for such a passionate fanbase. I realize that it’s not a close trip but it’s a place we rarely visit. The kids deserve better.
And, don't underestimate the effects of the NIL/Portal on the passionate fan base. Some of the passion has drained for many.

Some of yall need to realize refusing to donate to NIL is like doing math by hand when you could do it in excel.

For me it is personally that I work hard for my money and need to see a return on investment. My money currently gets me tickets to have a seat at games. I am not going to give to NIL just to watch us turn the ball over 10 times a game. The players need to show me they will bring the pride to my school that is worth spending my hard earned money on. I need to see a real return on investment. Now, if they would put in the contract that the players reimburse me my money back if they fail on the objective then we can talk. I refuse to pay a cent to individual players to watch us miss bowl games.

Re: So Miss discussion
I'm not saying they have to win the SBC title for me to donate to it but show me something that is worthy of giving money to. I also see some of the inept stuff that people in the YC and marketing/PR do and feel like they would just waste my money. We are over 70M in debt and I am not going to give them more and more to allow for the allusion to just keep blindly spending.
If I had 50M to give it would go to a facility that would benefit all of football rather than just go in the hands of 3-4 players.
I would also suggest that people who are complaining about lack of giving to give more of their money or stop trying to guilt those of us who aren't because it won't work. People think more money will fix things but it sure did not help Michigan back in 2007 or Texas A&M in 2022.

If you do not give, you cannot conceivably get a return on your investment because you have made NO investment. It is an impossible equation to solve. The team may be good without any investment from you...that is riding coat tails and not a return on on an investment. If you do not want to give to where it hurts ..that is fine..your prerogative. I have no problem with that..free world....just say say that...instead of talking in circles..AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 4:46 pmFor me it is personally that I work hard for my money and need to see a return on investment. Someone was saying we need to give to NIL but I give to the Yosef Club and my point is that I am not going to give more money just for a specific player. I want my money to help the whole team. My investment is helping provide opportunity of a free education and the ability to play a game they love right now.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 5:27 pmIf you do not give, you cannot conceivably get a return on your investment because you have made NO investment. The sky is not falling. There are 9 games left.
A ton of teams look horrible. Notre Dame is 0-2. Clemson stinks. Florida is bad. South Carolina got destroyed. The ACC is a joke…etc.
I think we will be okay. Sure, we used to win games before we started but now each game is a 50/50 toss up. If we can get Swann healthy, the OL to block and 2 wide receivers back we will be okay. We move the ball at will, just have to finish. And for the most part, the defense looks better than it has the past couple years.
