Agree with many that going for 2 was the right call (I said it before we scored). Our defense wasn’t stopping Maye from the 25 in OT, and wasn’t stopping them from the 2 or wherever it is in the subsequent OTs. We were aggressive and went for the win. That’s what I want to see.

Our defense has a lot of work to do, but I think Maye might be the best QB we see this year. He made the right decisions the entire game. And their TEs absolutely are our lunch today.
With 4 minutes left, I thought any score under a minute, we should go for 2. I’m not sure we would have kept them out of FG range with 31 seconds left. They were shredding us, so going for the win made perfect sense. Once again a P5 game comes down to the final minute, win or lose.

Incredible game. I thought our team showed a lot of heart and thought our WR’s showed up. I think we are fine on offense. The Heels had zero pass rush most for the game

We definitely miss Demarco stopping the run and 20 yards down field in the passing game. Defense will get better, but next week could be tough sledding.

Second most combined points ever scored in a 4th quarter in FBS and we’re probably the only team to score 7 TD’s in the 4th Q and not win.

I thought our secondary played poorly, but many of the throws Drake made were with pretty good coverage, the throws were just better. He's got a bright future.
But, if he keeps giving up his body, he’s not going to make a full season. He’s going to have to adjust.

I have not read the entire thread, but listening to SC on the ride home, he is not well pleased with Dale Jones after WKU and today. That is my opinion listening between the lines.

Good. 120 points in two games.

I was never in love with the hire to begin with. There’s been minimal growth in the unit over the past 2 seasons (including today). We saw growth and change with previous coordinators when they got torched, but not with this one.

I do like our new OC. Other than the conservative couple drives in the second he called a great game.

Last years bowl game - it's a basically meaningless game - our CB chose not to play and he is on the Browns roster and their QB is on the Patriots roster -
Today starting 3 of 4 new DB starters clearly showed and at times they had pretty good coverage and others looked like misreads - a lot of work to be done but they will get better, no question - and I don't think Maye made a bad read the entire game and he puts the ball on the money - He is really really good, I am quite impressed ---

The same people who were saying “wait until Maye has to play a better defense in a hostile crowd” last week are now saying Maye is the best UNC quarterback. Why can’t we be critical of our team without facing backlash?? Our defense is atrocious. Does Shawn care to fix it and get rid of re tread Jones? No

The WRs worried me until the 4th quarter. Loved the TEs and RBs catching passes. It is the small things now with the WRs unfortunately including the 2pt conversion.

The defense I’m just not sure what all needs to improve. We seemed to be good against the run for the first half and then not good at much of anything in the 2nd.

D couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down when we needed big stops.

Guess the question to answer is UNCs offense way better than anyone else in the sunbelt. That will determine how many we have to score each game.

Do not look forward to TAM right now though.

Wonder why Harrington didn’t come in until late? Marshall had 1 carry early on.

Well - here are the numbers ---
• Going into last year’s bowl game, App State ranked in the top 20 nationally in scoring defense (No. 16,
19.3 points), total defense (No. 18, 325.5 yards), pass efficiency defense (No. 12, 114.7), INTs (No. 10, 15),
defensive TDs (No. 6, four), red zone defense (No. 15, 73.7%) and rushing defense (No. 19, 118.8).

Ok, compare those stats with what we saw on the field over the last 3 games. And then again at the end of this season. If there’s marked growth over the season against the quality teams, then great. If there isn’t, then Clark needs to examine his personnel.

That's what makes the 120 points in last 8 quarters sting so bad. 😄

Walking out my wife said, "what a great game". I didn't want to sound ugly but I said it was an entertaining game but a bad game. Both defenses got scored on at will. Unbelievable that we scored 40 points in a damn quarter and still lost. I was completely on board with going for 2 on that big TD. No way we stop them in overtime. Chase threw dimes and played his ass off. This could be a 9-3 season with the most prolific offense we have ever had. Just glad we didn't play Lenoir Rhyne or someone like that.

Please throw out last years bowl game - it was an irrelevant game - today was bad - no question but Maye is so much better than I anticipated - he is better right now that all the heralded QBs that were there ahead of him - our pass defense is young and inexperienced and it showed - I do believe they will get better -

I told someone pre game I was hoping Jones had some wrinkles in the defense because teams have figured it out....

Well, we had wrinkles... But they were going full man on the receivers. We haven't seen that in years.

I trust Jones to figure it out though.

Voice of reason? We have had 120 points scored on us in the last 2 games. The as completely unacceptable.
