Someone who played the position tells me that Wilson showed more than enough yesterday to prove that giving up on him was a huge mistake by the staff.
He has the arm of a D3 QB. That’s not what we are going for.
I trust the Hall of Famer.
The hall of famer knows what happened from January - December with Wilson? Interesting! He’s a ball player. He played ball. His talent is best suited for another level. Not sure what the hall of famer is looking at but I trust the coach who has coached hall of fame QBs

Interesting how the fall of famer just assumes the staff gave up on him? Sounds to me like he wanted out.

I appreciate your confidence in the staff. I saw nothing this year to share it.

We did not have an experienced QB coach so I just wonder if he fell through the cracks. Maybe not but just wonder if he deserves another look.

There is no question Mat deserves a bunch of time in qb room. Did any of you listen to the DLO’s interview on the ABC affiliate after the game…. it’s posted on X. I give him credit for his honesty in the interview. He second guesses himself on putting Wilson on scout team as CB. Talks about how talented he is… and wished he could have helped him more in the red zone. If you would have reversed the roles and put Gillon on scout team in a different position then give him game reps…… it’s fair to say that would be pretty ugly. Wilson is a really talented kid… and if you want to have a dual threat qb….. he is certainly in the mix.

Pretty sure that everyone who watched that game had the exact same conclusion. Sure, he was raw and missed bad on some passes, but he showed me more upside than what we played with all season. Still wondering how Wilson was removed from the QB room and Gillan surpassed him and Wiles. Nobody that has seen Gillon play can intelligently argue that he is better than Wilson or Wiles, but our coaches sure treat him like he is. It is a mystery to me and makes me question many things about our head coach and his staff.

I’ll ask the same question, I asked weeks ago and never saw a decent response.
Outside of DJ’s defense, where did we improve this year in season? What mistakes did we stop making?

You can say we didn’t have the horses, but part of the job is development and improvement. This group was together continually from the beginning of August until the end of the year.

I want to see what he does with his own guys. End of story. If he can’t get it done with his own personnel, happy trails.

It’s honestly very difficult to have any genuine conversation on this staff because so many people here have obvious emotional agendas connected with this staff vs the prior. I have/had no personal connection with either.

If Loggains can’t get it done with his own guys, see ya.👋 but we should give him time to find out.

More of a head scratcher that he kept bring him in for snaps. Also, why not run more misdirection run plays. GaSo couldn’t stop those and then we’d call the interception plays.

Whats interesting about that is Wilson is in the LaNorris Sellers mold which was the qb that basically propelled Loggains into this job by his production. Obviously Wilson is not o that level but it is weird that there was no scheming him into the offense or maybe there was, but not playin him or Wiles at all this year after watching Gillon look like he wouldn’t start for Western was curious

Coach Dlo acknowledged in his presser that he overlooked Wilson and was second guessing his decision on that. He even stated that he didn't give Wilson the help he needed and that he needed to change that. No one knows how someone will be at QB, or any position for that matter. All you can do is assess them in practice and hope you got it right. Just remember that Wilson was on the team when Clark was here as well. He never saw the field then either. I have had soccer players that just did horrid in practice at certain positions so they got moved. For some reason or another (injury or player not available) you have to play that person in the position they don't excel at in practice. Suddenly they turn it on in the game. The only reason you found this out is because your back was against the wall and you had no other option. You don't just throw people in games to test something out unless you are up big on points, down big on points, or have no other option. Armanti got on the field due to an injury to the starting QB (Trey Elder). Elder was the better and more established QB, according to the coaches. Turns out they were wrong. It happens...

I was pretty pleased with the emergence of Mbake, Larkins, and Trigg Lewis, who all produced at a much higher level as the season progressed than they did at the start of the year.

He had short time to add guys via the portal and I think it’s fair to say Swann and Kohl were whiffs, but he also hit home runs with Barnes, Dozier, Cummings, Dubinion, etc.

I thought overall he did okay this year with what we have. Could have been better, could have been worse. I dunno I am tired of defending Loggains I don’t even really like him. I just find some of the criticism here to be agenda driven. And that’s not specifically pointed at you I think you’re asking fair and genuinely appropriate questions.

I hope we are better next season!

I have no agenda. I am simply asking how/if this team improved on the field, in coaching decisions or cleaning up mistakes.

I didn’t see it, outside of the performance of the defense (better tackling, more pressure on the QB as the season progressed, better interior line play)

Our special teams was solid throughout the year, but regressed a bit when it mattered.

We should not have been making Week 1 mistakes at the end of the season.

If Loggains couldn’t see that Wilson had running ability at the very least despite him watching him run the scout team all season then he sucks at evaluating talent. We had Joey at qb when Clark was here so no need for Wilson to play at qb so that’s apples to oranges. And it essentially took Gillan being awful…again for Wilson to get the lions share of the work yesterday. Loggains is supposed to be the offensive guru. I just can’t fathom how he can say now that he had no idea Wilson had this ability. And by your own words DL clearly got it wrong.

Again, you open mouth and insert foot.... Joey only got to play because Burger got hurt. Burger wasn't better than Joey yet Clark thought he was.... so you make my point. Wilson still has a lot to be desired when it comes to throwing. He made a good throw to Stroman but he was no Kohl when it came to throwing. I didn't say Dlo got it wrong..... Wilson is NOT the answer to our QB problems. You keep trying little buddy.

Look, we’re all frustrated. Losing yesterday wouldn’t have been that big of a deal if our opponent had been any other team.

As far as next year is concerned, will anyone care about all of this if App wins a bunch of games and a conference championship?

Or is being able to say, “I was right and you were wrong about ________” what really matters?

Wilson: I saw some raw talent reminiscent of Armanti, especially his runs and some of his decision making. Throwing the ball needs work but overall I think if he'd been at the helm all game long the out come would have been closer if not different.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.
