My goodness, who wants to read that?

Its a "closed" meeting, being broadcast worldwide. What is the big deal?

Not worried at all about that. He's a father. Sounds like he's being a good dad to me.
Cobb is ASU's AD. This was a big event for ASU alumni in Raleigh. ASU provides his transportation and it is a good bet paid for his gas, food and hotel bills. Good father, bad AD.

I disagree.

The man spends COUNTLESS hours at 20 some odd sports games, all over the east coast, at all hours, all times of the year, in the office, on the phone, cleaning up messes which others below him should have handled first...

If he slips out early a few times to bond with his kid, then I say God bless him.

And haters will continue to hate. Believe what you will but every possible option to have this open for the fans was considered. Only a few building on campus are equipped to support broadcasting an event like this. I seriously doubt we want to use an art gallery or a beat up dance hall as the backdrop for showcasing our athletics program to a new conference and the world. Use some common sense man and stop your whining. I'm disappointed I can't be there, but it is far more important to make a positive impression for ASU than making some half-ass arrangements just so you can be there.

If you want to be upset over something how about Cobb not showing up for the ring ceremony Saturday night and ducking out of the football recruiting gathering in Raleigh after 10 minutes so he and his son could attend the NC State vs Duke basketball game.
Just stating an opinion doesn't make one a hater and if there had been any noticeable effort made to keep fans up to date of the whole process, I wouldn't even mention it, however it's the "half-ass arrangements" that's concern me. I'm sure they just didn't find out 8:00 Monday morning that this was a go, because GSU announced their meeting Monday morning. Our meeting was only set after it came out from the W-SJ. To me, there was a lot of "half-ass" scrambling Monday to come up with a plan. And that's my whole complaint, that everything out of the AD's office is "half-ass". If we're going to get everyone behind this move and muster up all the support we can, we better not take everything for granted and make every move a day late and a dollar short.

Let's face it the AD's office didn't make us a football legend, everything for that was put in place long before the got here. He's been here what 7 years?

I don't have it out for any of them, I hope the AD's office is more than up to the job. I have just seen more failures then successes. Now hopefully we have a great success here in front of us and I don't want to see someone that can't even make it to the ring ceremony or recruiting gathering screw it up. Everyone else can just be a lemming and say "everything just great", "we don't need to know anything", "they'll tell us what we need to know" if they want to, that's their right. It's my right to say however that, if someone can't handle the big move we're about the take they better be thinking of getting someone they can. If anyone don't want to read it then don't. The top of the post has my name on it and I think it's clear where I am coming from. Hate as nothing to do with it, no more than having ones head up someone's behind does. To me, some see it as "all well, everything prefect", but my take is a little different. I see some record of fumbling and it concerns me. period. About the ring and recruiting deal, I think both show the about of effort and responsibility we should expect.

And as Forrest Gump said, "and that's all i have to say about that"
Why the need to go that route. Is it not enough to accept and say that people disagree with your stance. You act as if you have some entitled right to have an unquestioned and universally shared opinion, and should someone dare disagree they are a "lemming." Give it a rest, your axe is sharp enough.

You know what they say about opinions and all...

Who knows, maybe he came back with a 2-1 deal with the Pack to open a 40,000 seat KBS in 2015.

I simply can not believe what I'm reading. Every major presser the athletic department has held since the announcement that we were joining NCAA Division I in late 1969 has been open to the public. And I haven't missed one. Not even one!

Now, we have the biggest announcement in university athletic history and it's closed? And we're supposed to sit home and WATCH THE GoASU-TV SERVERS CRASH? Was this decision made by Charlie Cobb or by the SID? Either way, it stinks and I resent it a helluva lot! And I really, really mean it, ASU!

Surely you're not criticizing Charlie, are you, Chuck? That's an abomination on here. ;)

ESPN article on Southern's move. This stands out:
Ground will also be broken in a few weeks to add 6,300 additional seats to Allen E. Paulson Stadium and build a new Football Operations Center in the east end zone.
Even though the current stadium expansion plan is not real, are there going to be any plans for updating KBS? We're entering into a whole new era in the facilities arms race. I hope, that while we've been positioning ourselves for the move, that there's been some gladhanding behind the scenes for facilities as well.

Here's one that stands out to me from Tommy Bowman's article yesterday in the W-SJ...

One area that will addressed is if the Mountaineers, as an FCS program in transition, will begin to add some scholarship players for next season, perhaps in the form of transfers, over the summer.

I think this will indeed happen.

Seriously? Have you toured our facilities? Doubt anyone in SBC can come close. Players care about indoor practice fields, weight rooms, lounges, etc. not how the stands look.

How will this affect their eligibility during the transition period? At present if they move from FBS to fcs they are eligible immediately. With us transitioning will they have to sit a year?

NFL scouts have told me that our stadium athletics facilities are better than any BCS program in the state, even better than the Panthers. If you've seen the inside of that building you'd be singing a different tune.

I never thought I'd ever have the pleasure of pissing in a black urinal with golden metal and a laser etched block A on top.... And that's just the pisser.

Seriously.

Have you seen the upgrades at Texas State? The proposal currently working through for Louisiana-Lafayette? Troy has extremely nice digs as does WKU.

GSU is now adding seating and even more football operations square footage. Just in our own backyard we have the other FBS schools in the state and even Charlotte's stadium is really nice and we be upgraded.

I think the Athletics Strategic Plan released by App earlier this year also placed a great deal of emphasis on facility upgrades.

So yeah, seriously.

Yup, I live down the road. I've seen the place. There's no denying it's top-notch (except for the pesky weight room issue ), but that doesn't mean further upgrades to the rest of the stadium, Owens, etc. can't still take place.
