Good Luck Apps

Unread post by Carolina Rocket » Sun Dec 04, 2016 6:48 pm

Greetings Applings, I come in peace.

Really looking forward to the bantering over the next couple of weeks and what should be a fantastic football game. I've been in this fine state of NC for most of my adult life, love it here, but Toledo will always be my school. I do enjoy App football from time to time, especially when you guys are playing those wine and cheesers in the ACC...

At any rate, a few things that might make Toledo really stand out from App, try to not be jealous:
- Toledo is located in the northwestern portion of our state
- We call it Gold, but we rock a rich Yellow as an accent color
- We beat Michigan, thanks to a failed FG at the end of the game.
- Our all-time coaching roster includes a guy named Scott Satterfield
- Travaris Cadet was a Toledo Rocket
- We play about third or fourth fiddle to other in-state programs, but consistently recruit above our pay grade
- We have mountains in Toledo. I believe you call them curbs here.

Good luck boys, let's have some fun!

@CarolinaRocket: best of luck to your team. We're looking forward to another great trip to Cramton Stadium.

Always thought Rocky was a cool mascot. Has that whole Mega Man vibe going on with him (and Rocksy too)

Should be a good game, probably fast paced from what I've seen out of Toledo this year. No doubt it'll be interesting.

Oh, I forgot another Toledo superlative. We've played Arkansas State in each of the last three seasons. Drink it in.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the game. Already used up my time for the year, but I'll have to find an App watch party to crash, haha. If anyone knows of one in the triad...

Welcome. Really think this is a coin flip, but who knows? Knew about the Satt connection, of course, but had forgotten about Cadet. Let's rumble!

This is a really good match-up. Best team in the Sun Belt (eat it stAte) versus the second-best team in the MAC.

More predictions from Campus Insiders. Three pick up and two pick Toledo.

Decent write-up but with no mention of Marcus and saying Jalen goes for 150, I wonder just how much homework was done prior to writing this piece.

I agree, it should read more like: Moore, Cox and Hunt each all finish with 150 yards each...although we'll see if Hunt gets his yards against our defense. Also, can't wait to see what the Legion of Boone does to that gunslinger QB of theirs. It's gonna be a slug-fest..

Welcome to the board Carolina Rocket! I think this is about as good a match up as the Camellia could have hoped for and I expect both App and Toledo feel the same way. The Toledo fast break offense against one of the better G-5 defenses will make for a very interesting game. I'm pretty excited about the match-up and already have tix and reserved Lot E parking like last year. Looking forward to a very entertaining day and game.

Carolina Rocket,
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I think that this will be a very good bowl matchup. I have watched Toledo play a couple of times this year and thought that your qb looked impressive. Add a massive oline and good rb and tight end and I think that we will have our hands full. Our defense is really our calling card but our o has made a steady progression and let some young receivers grow up during the season. Our running game is second to none. Can't wait to get to Montgomery.

Thanks for the kind responses. It should be a fantastic game. When Woodside is on, I would take him over just about any QB. He finished second to Baker Mayfield in passer rating for the season. Looks like our main running backs have pretty comparable numbers, though I would say that you have the edge defensively. Speaking of edges, don't run there. Our outside backers once asked for directions on how to get to the flat and were told "you can't get there from here".
