First Bowl Game
Technically, last year's Camelia Bowl vs Ohio was not our first bowl. The 1948 Burley Bowl in Johnson City vs West Chester State was our first, The Camelia Bowl could be said to be our first bowl in modern times.

Re: First Bowl Game
Actually, I am pretty sure our first bowl game is earlier than 1948.
App went undefeated and unscored on in 1938 regular season and fell to So. Miss. 7 - 3 in a bowl. Not sure which one. Coach that year was Kidd Brewer.
But, I have been thinking the same thing throughout this bowl season. It is not correct to say that last year was App's first bowl game.

Lost Doll and Toy Charity Game was the name of the 1938 game.

Re: First Bowl Game
The Doll and Toy game wasn't listed as a bowl game on College Football Data Warehouse. The ASU Media Guide shows 1937 as the undefeated unscored on season. We tied Carson-Newman 0-0 and lost to Southern Miss 0-7 that year, but our Media Guide doesn't show it as a bowl game, but in a former issue it was listed as some kind of bowl game.AppAlum1 wrote:Actually, I am pretty sure our first bowl game is earlier than 1948.

Wikipedia says we played in 9 Bowl games.

Re: First Bowl Game
You want to pick nits then say first NCAA bowl game, since the North State and Carolinas Conference were NAIA. We joined the Southern in 71'. The North State/Carolinas didn't become NCAA until the 90's and it was Division II then. Does it really make that much difference? We are now NCAA FBS and last year was our first NCAA bowl. And we are the only team to ever win FBS bowls in our first two years of eligibility. Enough for me.

Re: First Bowl Game
Well sorry but it's old news. I posted all of this last year, including all of the NAIA bowls, the bowl names, who we played, and what the scores were. But if it's that important to you have fun.
