Charlotte v. ODU was just moved to Thursday at 4...I think we're like the only school attempting to stay the course with this thing.

Would S Miss be able to fly in and out of Johnston City? I'm not sure Hickory would be an option to fly back on Sat or Sunday at this point. I'm in agreement that a 12pm kickoff would work better for fans for sure.

We’re Mountaineers. No little bit of rain and wind is gonna scare us. Plus, I’m sure the folks from Hattiesburg are okay with carrying on with Hurricane remnants. It’s not like it’s an inch of snow or something.

The game should be moved up to 12 and So Miss. should fly into KTRI and depart in the evening.

Yeah populated areas seem to have people freaking out. I don't get the gas lines, all the gas around here comes up the Colonial Pipeline out of the Gulf so I doubt there would be a disruption once this thing makes landfall.

I drove up to Rockingham County and got gas at a station outside of Madison without any issue. So I guess if you just go out into a rural area, away from the hysteria of the suburbs you can be fine. I'm gassed up, tanked up, pumped up for whatever comes, lol.
It's not so much a fear of disruption to distribution of gas, as it is not being able to get any if/when the power goes out.
Exactly. The predominant fear is that communities will lose power for days or weeks. People need to be mobile and they need gas for their portable generators.

I always like to look at all of the pros and cons of an issue before making a decision...as it stands I see a awful lot of cons and very few pros (if any) in terms of playing the game this weekend.

I think it needs to be postponed and then cancelled if a make-up date is not available, it's just a football game. Potential risk to players, coaches, & fans for both teams far exceeds any benefits to playing.

Have you seen the latest projected path of the storm?

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State's home football game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, against Southern Miss will not be played this weekend in Boone due to increasing concerns associated with Hurricane Florence.

While the scope of the storm's impact in the High Country is still unknown, university officials have worked in partnership with Southern Miss and emergency management personnel to reach a decision that is in the best interests of the safety and well-being of fans, student-athletes and game day personnel.

Officials from both schools are exploring options to reschedule the game. Further details on that and any ticket implications will be communicated as soon as possible via AppStateSports.com, via email to ticket holders and through local and regional media outlets.

Check AppStateSports.com for the most up-to-date information on the rescheduling of other home athletics events, which include women's soccer, men's soccer, alumni reunions and the 2018 App State Athletics Hall of Fame celebration.

That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

If anyone wants to watch Florence, check out the live action below.

Here in Calabash we’ve been without power for about 30 hours. Cable and internet are down too. Rain is forecast through tomorrow. Everything is starting to flood now. Florence sucks!!! But, it could have been a whole lot worse!

Luckily not much so far around the triad. Know all the rain is just starting for us.

SC governor has lifted the mandatory evac order beginning 9 00 AM Sunday. Longrifle are you on Santee Cooper Power? Our piwer in LR was off earlier today, but is supposed to be back on by AM.

Update from the High Country. Still waiting on the heavy stuff.

Durham Park was cautioned off and floodplain buildings like Duncan and Varsity had sandbags around entrances.

Quinn is open as a shelter.

Bavarian Village and residents of the Boone Creek floodplain (around AMB and Boone Mall) got visits from first responders asking people to voluntarily leave.

We are on Brunswick Electric (coop). Our building inspectors power is back on, and he lives in Little River. Most rivers haven’t crested yet flooding will continue. 95 and 40 have closed areas that are flooded. Gonna be hard for citizens, supplies and gas to get here.

As of the moment. 501 and 378 and 90 are open. If power is on we are going to come home today. After we get home, lets get together for our own "Mountaineer Talk".

Made it home safely. Marion was a bit dodgy. Otherwise we did fine. Glad to be back.

It looks like 17 is pretty clear coming up from Charleston. I'm going to try to get my wife back here from western North Carolina, but is looking like she could either go to Charleston and head north, or cut across and come in from Florence. Did you come in #9?
