SoCon basketball news...

Unread post by asu66 » Wed Mar 20, 2013 7:51 pm

From the smallcon comes a little bit of interesting news:

SoCon teams stagger into (and out of) post-season play

Home-standing Metro-Atlantic Canisius leads Elon 62-47 with under three minutes left to play in their first-round 2013 CBI tourney contest.

and...

Charleston loses on a buzzer-beater

Charleston got a less than rousing introduction to CAA basketball last night on their home court in the opening round of this season's CBI tourney. The Cougs, who trailed much of the game by double-digits, fought back to take a five point lead as the clock ran down only to see George Mason get a tip-in at the buzzer to slip out of the port city with a 78-77 win.

It was especially sad for Cougar guard Andrew Lawrence (London, England) who scored 14 points in his last collegiate game. 'Drew is the son of former Cremins' era Mountaineer small forward, Boo Lawrence.

UTC dumped John Shulman after nine seasons today. Strange to have the fired coach at the press conference announcing his dismissal.
