Snowballs

Unread post by Wilkesfan » Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:30 pm

Very disappointed watching our students throwing snowballs at JMU team as they emerged from tunnel, and continuing to throw snowballs throughout the game on the field and even at our own cheerleaders. I hope the university and Coach Clark publicly address this unsportsmanlike behavior. Not a good look for our university.

I was at the game. It was a fun game.

Honestly, who cares. I personally didn’t care for it;but it’s not that big of a deal. Plus it was pretty funny.

It’s not like anybody has been saying for years having visiting teams pass near our student section and through our home concourse would create problems…🙄

Students were throwing snowballs at our sideline after giving up the obligatory first drive TD.

Soft.

It's a snowball. Peeps wouldn't last fifteen minutes in Philly, especially if they were dressed as Santa.

Funny for a second but then it got ridiculous and dangerous…especially coming off 2nd level east side…hitting fans below. I’ll go one step further…some of the students need to learn how to handle their liquor and stop being dickheads. Screaming “fuck jmu” after the game to their fans walking out is pretty low class. I mean, wtf?! Win with dignity and show respect. To me and others seems to be that a lot of these students are buying these headbanger high gravity beers and then start acting a fool. Keep your shit together or don’t drink. It’s that damn easy. And don’t come at me telling me to lighten up…we aren’t ga southern so let’s not get a reputation of being like them. I’ve partied hard in my life so I’m not being holier than thou…I just know there’s a right way to act and a wrong way…what I saw tonight from a few idiots was over the line.

I'm more concerned with the F#@& JMU chants than the snowballs.

After what I experienced at Coastal, I’m ok with it. Snowballs away!!! That’s our version of streamers. Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.

I can only imagine what we would hear on here if the shoe was on the other foot. It was pretty embarrassing. One of our cheerleaders got hit in the face. It's funny how we can't find fault with what we see as classless in other fan bases.

Throwing a snowball at someone is a simple assault in NC, should someone want to press charges. Just keep that in mind. Also, no telling what the young ones packed inside the snow balls. Stupid on all accounts for throwing them at anyone who is not a WILLING participant in the snowball fight. You don't throw things, when at a game, that can hurt those around you. Too many people and too much liability. I love for Boone to be a hostile environment for the other team but throwing items is over the line and I can't get behind it.

So are you saying we should stoop to the level of behavior we see from other fanbases?

While disappointing that the students act the way they do, I was more disappointed in the "adults" further up in the stands throwing snowballs into the student section. Hard to expect better behavior of our students when it's reinforced by the adults. Spoke to a few JMU fans and welcomed them to Boone before the game. Asked some others how they were treated on the day as we walked out and the few I spoke with said good by the fans, not so good by their football team. Glad one team still has the expectation that every game "should" be a win.

I don't enjoy my six year old daughter listening to that. Our fans used to have more class than this. Never heard that in KBS until the past few years.

We don't want to be like Coastal and GS.

You have a good point. I don’t let my kids go to the Italian ice place behind the hill because there’s drunk kids stumbling around and throwing up, also it’s packed tight like Klondike on a Thursday night.
