How do we know if Scott S. has put a redshirt on a player?

Fans probably won't know for certain until the third or fourth game of the season. I'm sure the coaching staff has a good idea which kids aren't ready or aren't needed now; but with injuries, things can change. Freshmen can dress for games and remain eligible for redshirt status as long as they don't play in more than two games. In most cases, if a freshman hasn't been in a game by the end of this month, they aren't likely to play this season. At positions where personnel or talent is thin, injuries can force a change of plans.
