Ass't Basketball Coaching Recap
Today marks the 12th day since Jim Fox was named head basketball coach. We know that he knew who he was asking to serve as his assistants on his first day on the job. We also know the positions for assistant basketball coach have been posted and formally advertised since March 23rd. That's 30 days ago.
So what do we know for certain?
Coach Fox is in ASU's university directory; assigned to a faculty position (head coach) in the chancellor's administrative division. No prob!
Brian Lentz is also in ASU's university directory; assigned to a faculty position (assistant coach) in the chancellor's administrative division. No prob!
Here's where it gets confusing and/or messy.
The vacancy posting is still posted in the university HR group. By definition, that means at least one of the positions is not filled (officially speaking, at least). http://hrs.appstate.edu/employment/epa-jobs/946
While Jayson Allison's name has been removed from the VMI website, his name does not yet appear in ASU's university directory. In fact, even though Allison has changed his twitter alias/ID and graphic, it still associates him with VMI. Not ASU.
Fred DuPree's listing, pic and bio are still posted on the Canisius basketball website. His name does not yet appear in ASU's university directory; and he does not seem to be a Twitter user. He's a difficult candidate to follow.
This just seems to be taking too long; making me wonder if something, somewhere has gone awry.

Re: Ass't Basketball Coaching Recap
We've watched plenty of head coaches appear ready to jump before getting a better salary from their current school, or changing their mind for family/personal reasons. It must happen with assistants just as much, it just doesn't make the news.

Allison has now removed all reference to VMI. Still nothing about App but the VMI part is gone.asu66 wrote:While Jayson Allison's name has been removed from the VMI website, his name does not yet appear in ASU's university directory. Just to throw in a couple cents, it takes a minimum of a week, many times longer, AFTER a contract is signed, before all the HR stuff is fully wrapped up and any person is listed in the App directory. We've had a holiday right in the middle of all this which is bound to slow things down. We'll see more official info come out soon.

The university has been on state holiday this past weekend until tomorrow.

FWIW, Fox said Allison "kissed the ground" when he was in Boone, saying that after recruiting at VMI, getting players to App would seem like a piece of cake.

I just checked and noticed that the VMI reds and references are gone today; and it's all B & W; so he's ready to convert to ASU colors.

How do you send a background suggestion? The pic from the rafters from last season would look nice!asu66 wrote:I just checked and noticed that the VMI reds and references are gone today; and it's all B & W; so he's ready to convert to ASU colors.
