APP STATE / WYOMING WX TRENDS #5 Friday PM - BRING DRY SOCKS!

Well Mountaineers....

Can't say that my overall sense of HOPE has changed. Model data may not be accounting for the up-slope forcing with the windy conditions, but, in terms of the heavy moisture plume, that may, and it appears to be, setting up away from THE ROCK. I like where this is shaking out.

Heavy rain later tonight will move in and through. It looks to taper off mid to late morning, and then we shift to periods of rain and drizzle instead of the blanket of steady, to heavy, rain coverage we had been discussing earlier.

Trees, saturated ground and winds, not a good combo, so that needs to be watched. But overall, I'd say pack some dry socks, get into the rain gear, and come on up. Of course do realize, this won't be a picnic by any means. You have to use your best judgment about your safety and that of your family and friends... Please.

Mid to low 50s, gusty winds to 35 & 40 MPH, with any rain, will cut to the bone, but with enough of the warm and generous hospitality we show for each other, come make a memory about going to games in crappy conditions. This won't be the playoff game against Elon years ago (rain, wind, snow, freezing rain... it was greaaaaat), but darn worth a shot of hooch and a story or two for the kids down the road.

For those who don't come, that's OK, it's hard to watch family get soaking wet and down right cold. Been there.. done that.

As always..

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Got here an hour ago from Charlotte via 321. Piece of cake. Rather foggy now and 49. Getting ready for a great homecoming win! Lots of folks in town (and in the restaurants). Strap it on, zip it up, tie it down, and come on to the Rock! TOGETHER WE (and the creeks and stream) RISE!

Thanks.

Wished I could make it. First homecoming I've missed in many years. But 16 day old baby tomorrow can't quite make it in that weather.

Heading up from Asheville tomorrow...I usually head up 221 through Linville but I think I"m just going to bite the extra 45 mintues and come up through Lenoir just so I have 4-lanes. This will be my son's first App game so hopefully it's not too much of a deluge.
