Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
Just some budgeting numbers to aid the conversation. We don't really make money on paper with sports. Football breaks even or loses a bit. https://knightnewhousedata.org/fbs/sunbelt/appalachian-state-university https://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/appalachian-state-university/student-life/sports/...

Re: NC lawmakers to force UNC, NC State to play in-state schools
I think if laws like this get passed across the nation, it will just be an added catalyst to push athletics to separate from schools and be their own entity of semi-pro/minor league sports that just use the name and likeness of the schools for their teams. I still think the split from the academic ...

Re: Slow goings on the board
It's an unsecured website, so that plays a bit into it. Secure websites tend to load faster. If you are accessing from work or other places with firewalls that may trigger them, or if your home device has something on it that doesn't like unsecured sites, that could play into it.

Re: D1 Board of Directors sets stipulations on Pay to Play and transfers
Looks like one thing they are trying to combat are the transfer portal students not staying on track in their degrees. That part could slow down some of the transferring if it's done properly, but I won't hold my breath.

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
So this is interesting. NIL from a state government agency. While I applaud trying to support a local cause, that brings back the issue of tax money being used to buy college mercenaries. Edit, first link wouldn't work. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/nc-state-legend-dj-burns-lands-nil-deal-with-t...

Re: Two minute warning, helmet comm approved
College is so painfully far behind on incorporating technology to the sport. Better communication leads to less miscommunication on plays that lead to busted plays that lead to injuries. Put the mics in all the helmets so position coaches can talk to the players between posessions. This could lower ...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
Everyone wants to have a competitive advantage. Most believe more money would give them that advantage. Some schools have always had a competitive advantage. What is Appalachian's competitive advantage? because it has never been money. The mountains, luck, incredible aptitude for finding hidden tal...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
So university funds can go into it. Now it's not even just school fees, now it can be our tax dollars. I hope this gets nuked with so many lawsuits that it breaks the system. It's one thing if some millionaire wants to buy a player with NIL but I'll be damned if tax money or student athletic fees ar...

UNCC looking to get R1 title
This I have to admit I'm a bit jealous of. I wish App could get into more research. I know a lot of it comes down to funding so I guess we will always be on the outside looking in on this world. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/unc-charlotte-gain-higher-status/RZDIFARHT5C7LLJOUD4TERVSU4/?utm_campai...

Once upon a time I would get a bit excited on signing day. I would keep checking the internet forums in the pre social media days and now its just.....another day.
So it goes.
So it goes.

Looks good on paper.
I like the 5 rebounds per game from a guard, that's some extra hustle.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Some of yall are such dicks. Just let them go where they want. Stop being so butthurt ,and more, over it all. This stuff happens all over the job force in our economy. Just because it's now happening in the precious college sports is no reason to spew so much hate toward them. You get to change jobs...
